أعلنت وزيرة الأمن الداخلي الأمريكي كريستي نويم، اليوم (الإثنين)، عن إجرائها محادثة صريحة مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو بشأن المفاوضات مع إيران، مؤكدة أن المحادثة شددت على أهمية البقاء متحدين.
وقالت نويم خلال مقابلة مع برنامج «فوكس آند فريندز» على قناة «فوكس نيوز»: «أرسلني الرئيس ترمب إلى هنا خصيصاً لإجراء محادثة مع رئيس الوزراء عن كيفية سير هذه المفاوضات، ومدى أهمية أن نبقى متحدين ونترك هذه العملية تسير على ما يرام، موضحة أن المحادثة كانت صريحة للغاية».
واستقبل نتنياهو أمس وزيرة الأمن الداخلي الأمريكي في القدس، وبحسب مكتب رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي فإن السفير الأمريكي مايك هاكابي رافق نويم في اجتماعها مع نتنياهو.
وقال مكتب نتنياهو أن نويم أعربت خلال الاجتماع عن دعمها الثابت لرئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي وعن تقديرها لإدارته للحرب في غزة، فيما أشاد وزير الخارجية الإسرائيلي جدعون ساعر بما وصفه بأنه التزام كبير لترمب تجاه إسرائيل، وذلك خلال مؤتمر صحفي مشترك عقده إلى جانب نويم.
وقال ساعر: «يظهر الرئيس ترمب وإدارته التزاماً كبيراً تجاه إسرائيل»، مضيفاً: «أعتقد أن زيارتك تمثل جزءاً من هذا الالتزام وليس لإسرائيل صديق وحليف أعظم من الولايات المتحدة، نشكركم على دعمكم».
واختتم الوفدان الإيراني والأمريكي الجولة الخامسة من المحادثات في روما، الأسبوع الماضي، وهناك مؤشرات على تحقيق بعض التقدم المحدود.
بالمقابل، قال وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي في وقت سابق اليوم إن طهران تدرس المقترحات والحلول التي قدمها وزير خارجية سلطنة عُمان بدر البوسعيدي خلال الجولة الخامسة من المفاوضات النووية مع واشنطن، لإزالة العقبات في طريق التوصل إلى اتفاق.
وشددت وزارة الخارجية الإيرانية على أنها لن تقبل بتعليق تخصيب اليورانيوم لإبرام اتفاق مؤقت، متهمة إسرائيل بمحاولة «تخريب المفاوضات».
وأوضح المتحدث باسم الخارجية الإيرانية إسماعيل بقائي أن طهران لن تقبل بتعليق تخصيب اليورانيوم مؤقتاً لإبرام اتفاق نووي مع الولايات المتحدة، مضيفاً أنه لم يتحدد موعد بعد للجولة السادسة من المحادثات مع واشنطن.
وقال بقائي إن تخصيب اليورانيوم جزء لا يتجزأ من برنامجنا النووي، وإن طهران لا تتطلع لاستخدام الطاقة النووية لأغراض عسكرية، مضيفاً: «طهران لا تسعى إلى تضييع الوقت في المفاوضات، بل تسعى بجدية إلى التوصل إلى اتفاق عادل ومنصف وواقعي».
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen announced today (Monday) that she had an open conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding negotiations with Iran, emphasizing that the conversation highlighted the importance of staying united.
Nielsen said during an interview with the "Fox & Friends" program on Fox News: "President Trump sent me here specifically to have a conversation with the Prime Minister about how these negotiations are going, and how important it is for us to stay united and let this process go smoothly," explaining that the conversation was very candid.
Netanyahu received the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security in Jerusalem yesterday, and according to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee accompanied Nielsen in her meeting with Netanyahu.
Netanyahu's office stated that Nielsen expressed her steadfast support for the Israeli Prime Minister and her appreciation for his management of the war in Gaza, while Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar praised what he described as a significant commitment from Trump towards Israel, during a joint press conference held alongside Nielsen.
Sa'ar said: "President Trump and his administration show a strong commitment to Israel," adding: "I believe your visit represents part of this commitment, and there is no greater friend and ally to Israel than the United States. We thank you for your support."
The Iranian and American delegations concluded the fifth round of talks in Rome last week, with indications of achieving some limited progress.
In contrast, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated earlier today that Tehran is considering the proposals and solutions presented by Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi during the fifth round of nuclear negotiations with Washington, to remove obstacles to reaching an agreement.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized that it will not accept a suspension of uranium enrichment to reach a temporary agreement, accusing Israel of attempting to "sabotage the negotiations."
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei clarified that Tehran will not accept a temporary suspension of uranium enrichment to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States, adding that a date for the sixth round of talks with Washington has not yet been set.
Baqaei stated that uranium enrichment is an integral part of our nuclear program, and that Tehran does not seek to use nuclear energy for military purposes, adding: "Tehran is not looking to waste time in negotiations, but is seriously seeking to reach a fair, just, and realistic agreement."
