استدعت فنلندا، اليوم (الإثنين)، سفير روسيا لدى هلسنكي على خلفية الاشتباه في انتهاك المجال الجوي الفنلندي الأسبوع الماضي، بحسب وزارة الخارجية الفنلندية.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية الفنلندية في بيان: أبلغنا السفير بأن فنلندا تأخذ الانتهاك الإقليمي المشتبه به على محمل الجد. مضيفة: السفير أشار إلى أنه سينقل الرسالة، دون الخوض في التفاصيل.
وذكرت فنلندا العضو في حلف شمال الأطلسي (الناتو)، (الجمعة)، أنها تعتقد أن طائرتين عسكريتين روسيتين دخلتا مجالها الجوي قبالة ساحل بورفو في الجزء الجنوبي من البلاد، وإن حرس الحدود الفنلندي يحقق في الحادثة.
وكان جهاز «الأمن والاستخبارات الفنلندي» قد حذّر من أن أنشطة استخبارية روسية لا تزال تشكّل أكبر تهديد للأمن القومي لفنلندا في مارس العام الماضي.
وقال الجهاز: إن الجارة الشرقية لفنلندا والبالغ طول الحدود المشتركة معها 1,340 كيلومتراً، تعاملها على أنها دولة غير صديقة وهدف للتجسس ولأنشطة التأثير الخبيث.
يذكر أن حرس الحدود الفنلندي كان قد أعلن استكمال أول 35 كيلومتراً من سياج ارتفاعه 4.5 متر تشيده الدولة الواقعة في شمال أوروبا على حدودها الشرقية المغلقة مع روسيا لمنع المهاجرين من العبور عبر البرية، فيما قالت الشرطة الفنلندية انها احتجزت سفينة مرتبطة بروسيا، للاشتباه بتسببها في قطع كابلات للكهرباء والإنترنت في بحر البلطيق.
وبدأت فنلندا إقامة السياج العام الماضي للتعامل مع تدفق مهاجرين من روسيا عبر الحدود في 2023، والذي تعتقد أنه إجراء متعمد من موسكو. وسيغطي السياج في نهاية المطاف 200 كيلومتر من إجمالي الحدود البالغ طولها 1,344.
وأوضح نائب قائد منطقة حرس الحدود في جنوب شرق فنلندا أنتي فيرتا أن الغرض الرئيسي من السياج هو السيطرة على كتلة كبيرة من الناس إذا حاولوا الدخول من روسيا إلى فنلندا.
Finland summoned the Russian ambassador to Helsinki today (Monday) following suspicions of a violation of Finnish airspace last week, according to the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: We informed the ambassador that Finland takes the suspected territorial violation seriously. It added: The ambassador indicated that he would convey the message, without going into details.
Finland, a member of NATO, mentioned on Friday that it believes two Russian military aircraft entered its airspace off the coast of Porvoo in the southern part of the country, and that the Finnish Border Guard is investigating the incident.
The Finnish Security and Intelligence Service had warned that Russian intelligence activities still pose the greatest threat to Finland's national security in March of last year.
The agency stated: Finland's eastern neighbor, which shares a 1,340-kilometer border with it, treats it as an unfriendly state and a target for espionage and malign influence activities.
It is worth noting that the Finnish Border Guard had announced the completion of the first 35 kilometers of a 4.5-meter-high fence being constructed by the Nordic country along its closed eastern border with Russia to prevent migrants from crossing overland, while the Finnish police said they had detained a vessel linked to Russia, suspected of causing damage to electricity and internet cables in the Baltic Sea.
Finland began constructing the fence last year to address the influx of migrants from Russia across the border in 2023, which it believes is a deliberate action by Moscow. The fence will eventually cover 200 kilometers of the total border length of 1,344 kilometers.
Deputy Commander of the Southeast Finland Border Guard Antti Virta explained that the main purpose of the fence is to control a large mass of people if they attempt to enter Finland from Russia.
