Amid the ongoing massacres and displacement from one place to another within the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation government rejected today (Monday) the new proposal regarding a ceasefire, which was presented by American businessman Bashar Bahbah in cooperation with American envoy Steve Witkoff, according to what Channel 14 reported from an Israeli official.
A Palestinian source revealed that the new mediators' proposal includes the release of 10 hostages in exchange for a 70-day truce, while the newspaper "Jerusalem Post" quoted an Israeli official saying that Tel Aviv rejected a proposal from Hamas for a partial deal that includes the release of 5 hostages, considering that the proposal is very far from the outlines we are willing to negotiate.
According to the newspaper, Hamas drafted a proposal and conveyed it to the United States through backchannel communications, after which the United States presented the proposal to Israel. The United States did not mention whether it supports the proposal or not.
The proposal included the release of 5 living detainees in exchange for the Israeli army withdrawing to its positions at the time of the previous truce in March, allowing humanitarian aid to enter all areas of Gaza, and continuing discussions for the release of the remaining living and deceased hostages, along with what was described as "a kind of American recognition of Hamas."
The Hebrew newspaper reported that the Trump administration opened a communication channel with Hamas through Palestinian-American businessman and writer Bashar Bahbah, who serves as the head of the organization "Americans Arabs for Peace."
Bahbah worked on making the contacts for this proposal, in addition to the discussions that led to the release of the detained Aidan Alexander.
Meanwhile, the occupation army demanded that residents of Khan Younis, Bani Suheila, Abasan, and Al-Qarara evacuate, while at least 52 people were killed in an Israeli bombardment on Gaza today, including 33 who fell in the bombing of a school housing displaced persons.
The Israeli army estimated that the war in the sector would continue for an additional two months. According to sources mentioned by the newspaper "Maariv," the army's strategic goal is to control 75% of Gaza's territory. It indicated that this would require pushing about two million of Gaza's residents to several areas described as "safe," including Al-Mawasi, the central camp, and downtown Gaza.
