أعلنت وزارة الطاقة السعودية توقيع حكومة المملكة وحكومة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية اتفاقية للتعاون في مجال الاستخدامات السلمية للطاقة النووية، في إطار الشراكة الإستراتيجية بين البلدين، واستكمالاً لما أُعلن خلال زيارة ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في نوفمبر الماضي بشأن اكتمال المفاوضات المتعلقة بالتعاون بين البلدين في مجال الاستخدامات السلمية للطاقة النووية، وتعزيزاً للتعاون الثنائي في مجالات الطاقة والتقنيات المتقدمة.
تعزيز التعاون
وأوضحت الوزارة أن الاتفاقية التي وقعها وزير الطاقة ووزير الصناعة والثروة المعدنية الأمير عبدالعزيز بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، مع وزير الطاقة الأمريكي كريس رايت، تهدف إلى تعزيز التعاون بين البلدين في مجال الاستخدامات السلمية للطاقة النووية، ودعم تبادل الخبرات والمعرفة والتقنيات، بما يسهم في تطوير التعاون المشترك وفق أعلى المعايير الدولية المتعلقة بالأمن والأمان النوويين وعدم الانتشار النووي.
شراكة إستراتيجية
وأكدت وزارة الطاقة أن الاتفاقية تعكس الرؤية المشتركة للمملكة والولايات المتحدة نحو توسيع التعاون في مجالات الطاقة والتقنيات المستقبلية، ودعم التنمية المستدامة، كما تمثل امتداداً للتعاون القائم بين البلدين في قطاع الطاقة.
وأضافت أن الاتفاقية تدعم الجهود الرامية إلى تنويع مصادر الطاقة، وتطوير التقنيات المتقدمة، وتعزيز فرص التعاون والاستثمار، بما يحقق المصالح المشتركة للبلدين الصديقين.
The Saudi Ministry of Energy announced the signing of an agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America for cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, as part of the strategic partnership between the two countries, and as a continuation of what was announced during the visit of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman to the United States in November last year regarding the completion of negotiations related to cooperation between the two countries in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and advanced technologies.
Enhancing Cooperation
The ministry clarified that the agreement, signed by the Minister of Energy and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, with U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and to support the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and technologies, contributing to the development of joint cooperation according to the highest international standards related to nuclear security and safety and nuclear non-proliferation.
Strategic Partnership
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that the agreement reflects the shared vision of the Kingdom and the United States towards expanding cooperation in the fields of energy and future technologies, and supporting sustainable development, as it represents an extension of the existing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
It added that the agreement supports efforts aimed at diversifying energy sources, developing advanced technologies, and enhancing opportunities for cooperation and investment, achieving the mutual interests of the two friendly countries.
