اعتقلت السلطات الأمريكية مواطناً أمريكياً على خلفية محاولته إلقاء قنبلة حارقة على مبنى تابع لسفارتها في تل أبيب، بحسب ما أعلنته وزارة العدل الأمريكية اليوم (الأحد).
وقالت الوزارة في بيان إن المشتبه فيه جوزيف نوماير (28 عاماً) ويحمل أيضاً الجنسية الألمانية هدد باغتيال الرئيس دونالد ترمب، موضحة أن عناصر من مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي (إف بي آي) أوقفوا نوماير في مطار جون كينيدي بنيويورك، بعد أن رحّلته إسرائيل إلى الولايات المتحدة.
وأشارت إلى أنه تم رفع دعوى في محكمة بشرق نيويورك تتضمن اتهامات للمشتبه فيه بمحاولة حرق أو تفجير المبنى التابع للسفارة الأمريكية في تل أبيب، لافتة إلى أن نوماير مَثُل أمام القاضي بيغي كيو الذي قرر حبسه.
وأكدت وزارة العدل الأمريكية أن الشاب الموقوف نشر في منصات التواصل الاجتماعي تهديدات بحرق السفارة الأمريكية في إسرائيل، واغتيال الرئيس دونالد ترمب.
وتفرض الإدارة الأمريكية إجراءات حاسمة لمواجهة مثيري الفوضى والعنف، ومن يحاول الإساءة للحكومة، وآخرهم الأميرال المتقاعد من البحرية الأمريكية من ذوي الأربع نجوم روبرت بيرك الذي يواجه حكماً بالسجن لمدة 30 عاماً بعد إدانته في مخطط رشوة مع متعاقد دفاعي بينما كان قائداً للقوات البحرية الأمريكية في أوروبا وأفريقيا.
وأُدين الأميرال روبرت بيرك بالتآمر لارتكاب الرشوة والقيام بأعمال تؤثر على مصلحة مالية شخصية، وإخفاء حقائق مادية عن الولايات المتحدة، أثناء ما كان نائب رئيس العمليات البحرية، وهو ثاني أعلى منصب في البحرية الأمريكية.
واعتُقل الأميرال في مايو 2024 بعد أن اتهمه مدعون فيدراليون بتحويل عقد بقيمة 355 ألف دولار إلى شركة تدريب مقرها نيويورك وظفته بعد تقاعده من البحرية.
The American authorities have arrested an American citizen for attempting to throw a Molotov cocktail at a building belonging to its embassy in Tel Aviv, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice today (Sunday).
The department stated in a press release that the suspect, Joseph Nomaier (28 years old), who also holds German citizenship, threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump. It clarified that agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stopped Nomaier at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York after he was deported from Israel to the United States.
It noted that a lawsuit has been filed in a court in Eastern New York, including charges against the suspect for attempting to burn or blow up the building belonging to the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv, pointing out that Nomaier appeared before Judge Peggy Kuo, who decided to detain him.
The U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that the detained young man posted threats on social media to burn the U.S. embassy in Israel and to assassinate President Donald Trump.
The U.S. administration is imposing decisive measures to confront those who incite chaos and violence, and those who attempt to harm the government, the latest of whom is retired four-star Admiral Robert Burke, who faces a 30-year prison sentence after being convicted in a bribery scheme with a defense contractor while he was commander of U.S. naval forces in Europe and Africa.
Admiral Robert Burke was convicted of conspiracy to commit bribery and engaging in acts affecting a personal financial interest, and concealing material facts from the United States while he was Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, the second-highest position in the U.S. Navy.
The admiral was arrested in May 2024 after federal prosecutors accused him of steering a $355,000 contract to a training company based in New York that he was employed by after retiring from the Navy.
