أعلن القصر الملكي البلجيكي أمس (الجمعة) أن ولية عهد بلجيكا الأميرة إليزابيث،، تنتظر معرفة ما إذا كان بإمكانها العودة إلى جامعة هارفارد لعامها الثاني، وذلك بعد أن أبطل قرار إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب الخميس الماضي حق جامعة هارفارد في تسجيل الطلاب الأجانب، بعد اتهامها بعدم الامتثال لمتطلبات وزارة الأمن الداخلي.
وقال رئيس الاتصالات في القصر الملكي البلجيكي، كزافييه بيرت: «نحن ندرس الوضع لمعرفة التأثير المحتمل لهذا القرار على الأميرة، أو عدمه. ومن المبكر جدًا تحديد ذلك الآن.»
وأضاف بيرت أن الأميرة إليزابيث، البالغة من العمر 23 عامًا، أكملت عامها الأول في برنامج الدراسات العليا في هارفارد وستقضي الصيف في بلجيكا. وقال: «علينا أن نرى ما سيحدث العام القادم.».
الأميرة هي الابنة الكبرى للملك فيليب والملكة ماتيلد، وتدرس للحصول على درجة الماجستير في السياسة العامة. وكانت قد حصلت العام الماضي على شهادة في التاريخ والسياسة من كلية لينكولن بجامعة أكسفورد في المملكة المتحدة.
وتضم جامعة هارفارد نحو 6,800 طالب أجنبي في حرمها الجامعي في كامبريدج، ماساتشوستس، وهو ما يمثل أكثر من ربع عدد طلابها. ومعظم هؤلاء الطلاب هم من طلبة الدراسات العليا، وينتمون إلى أكثر من 100 دولة.
وأجبر القرار الجديد آلاف الطلاب على الانتقال إلى جامعات أخرى أو مغادرة البلاد.
وقد رفعت الجامعة دعوى قضائية (الجمعة) في محكمة فيدرالية في بوسطن، مؤكدة أن قرار إدارة ترمب ينتهك التعديل الأول للدستور الأمريكي وسيكون له «تأثير فوري ومدمر على هارفارد وأكثر من 7,000 حامل تأشيرة.».
يذكر أن إليزابيث ولدت فى 25 أكتوبر 2001 ومنحها والدها الملك فليب خلال الاحتفال بعيد ميلادها 18 «ليوبولد» أعلى وسام شرفي فى بلجيكا، وتعد هي الأولى فى ترتيب الحصول على العرش الملكي لأنها ستصبح أول ملكة للبلجيكيين بعد 7 ملوك.
تخرجت الأميرة من المدرسة الثانوية فى دولة ويلز ثم درست العلوم الاجتماعية والعسكرية بالأكاديمية العسكرية الملكية فى بروكسل.
وجذبت الأميرة إليزابيث، وريثة العرش البلجيكية، الأنظار خلال الفترة الماضية فى أكثر من مناسبة بظهور متنوع يعكس أناقتها أحيانًا، ولياقتها البدنية تارة أخرى، حيث رصدت عدسات الكاميرات إطلالات الأميرة البلجيكية المدللة بالفساتين الأنيقة فى العديد من المناسبات، وعلى الجانب الآخر، كان لها ظهورها الجاد بالزي العسكري «الأفرول»، حاملة السلاح أثناء أداء تمرينات اللياقة والرماية فى الأكاديمية العسكرية.
وبعيدًا عن الفساتين الأنيقة والحياة الملكية الناعمة، كان للأميرة إليزابيث، ظهور آخر يحمل الكثير من طابع الجدية والعمل الشاق، حيث خطفت الأنظار بإطلالتها المميزة بالزي العسكري المموه، وهى تحمل بندقية ضخمة لممارسة الرماية.
وعكست الصور التى نشرت للأميرة البلجيكية أثناء أداء التمارين البدنية القاسية مدى جديتها وحرصها على منافسة زملائها من الطلاب الآخرين فى الأكاديمية العسكرية، أثناء الزحف على الأرض أسفل الأسلاك الشائكة وتسلق الحواجز والتدريب على الرماية بالأسلحة النارية.
The Belgian royal palace announced yesterday (Friday) that Belgium's heir apparent, Princess Elisabeth, is waiting to find out whether she can return to Harvard University for her second year, after the Trump administration's decision last Thursday to revoke Harvard's ability to enroll foreign students, accusing it of failing to comply with the Department of Homeland Security's requirements.
Belgian royal palace communications chief, Xavier Bert, said: "We are studying the situation to understand the potential impact of this decision on the princess, or not. It is too early to determine that now."
Bert added that 23-year-old Princess Elisabeth completed her first year in the graduate program at Harvard and will spend the summer in Belgium. He said: "We have to see what will happen next year."
The princess is the eldest daughter of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, and she is studying for a master's degree in public policy. Last year, she obtained a degree in history and politics from Lincoln College at the University of Oxford in the UK.
Harvard University has about 6,800 foreign students on its campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which represents more than a quarter of its student body. Most of these students are graduate students and come from over 100 countries.
The new decision has forced thousands of students to transfer to other universities or leave the country.
The university filed a lawsuit (on Friday) in a federal court in Boston, asserting that the Trump administration's decision violates the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and will have "an immediate and devastating impact on Harvard and more than 7,000 visa holders."
It is worth noting that Elisabeth was born on October 25, 2001, and her father, King Philippe, awarded her the "Leopold" medal, the highest honor in Belgium, during her 18th birthday celebration. She is first in line for the royal throne, as she will become the first queen of the Belgians after seven kings.
The princess graduated from high school in Wales and then studied social and military sciences at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels.
Princess Elisabeth, the Belgian heir to the throne, has attracted attention in recent times at various events with a diverse appearance that reflects her elegance at times and her physical fitness at others. Cameras have captured the princess in elegant dresses at many occasions, while on the other hand, she has also made serious appearances in military attire, carrying a weapon while performing fitness and shooting drills at the military academy.
Apart from the elegant dresses and the soft royal life, Princess Elisabeth has also made another appearance that carries a lot of seriousness and hard work, as she caught the eye with her distinctive look in camouflage military attire, carrying a large rifle for shooting practice.
The photos published of the Belgian princess during her rigorous physical training reflect her seriousness and determination to compete with her fellow students at the military academy, as she crawled on the ground under barbed wire, climbed obstacles, and trained in shooting with firearms.
