تستضيف العاصمة الإيطالية روما اليوم (الجمعة) الجولة الخامسة من المفاوضات الإيرانية الأمريكية بشأن البرنامج النووي، وسط تعثّر في ملف تخصيب اليورانيوم.
وتُعقد المحادثات قبيل اجتماع لمجلس الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية مقرّر في يونيو القادم في فيينا، وسيتم خلاله التطرّق خصوصا إلى النشاطات النووية الإيرانية.
وتوجه الوفد الإيراني برئاسة عراقجي صباح اليوم (الجمعة) إلى روما، حيث من المرتقب أن تعقد الجولة مع الوفد الأمريكي الذي يرأسه ستيف ويتكوف.
وأجرى البلدان 4 جولات سابقة بوساطة عمانية وصفت بالإيجابية، إلا أن الفترة الأخيرة شهدت حرب تصريحات بينهما حول مسألة السماح لإيران بتخصيب اليورانيوم على أراضيها.
وعشية المحادثات، أعلنت إيران استعدادها للانفتاح على مزيد من عمليات التفتيش لمنشآتها النووية. وقال وزير الخارجية عباس عراقجي للتلفزيون الرسمي إن بلاده واثقة من الطبيعة السلمية لبرنامجها النووي، مؤكداً أنه لا مشكلة من حيث المبدأ في السماح بمزيد من عمليات التفتيش.
وأضاف أن خلافات جوهرية لا تزال قائمة مع الولايات المتحدة، محذراً من أنه إذا أصرت واشنطن على منع إيران من تخصيب اليورانيوم فلن يكون هناك اتفاق.
من جانبه، شدّد المبعوث الأمريكي إلى الشرق الأوسط ستيف ويتكوف على أن واشنطن لا يمكنها السماح حتى بنسبة 1% من قدرة التخصيب، ما قوبل برفض إيراني، إذ تؤكد طهران تمسّكها بحقها في برنامج نووي مدني، وتعتبر الشرط الأمريكي مخالفاً لاتفاق 2015.
وكان المرشد الإيراني علي خامنئي أكد أن إيران لا تنتظر إذناً من «هذا أو ذاك» لتخصيب اليورانيوم، معرباً عن شكوكه في أن تفضي المباحثات مع الولايات المتحدة إلى أي نتيجة.
ونقلت شبكة «سي إن إن» الأمريكية عن مسؤولين أمريكيين تأكيدهم أن إسرائيل تستعد لضرب المنشآت النووية الإيرانية.
من جانبها، أعربت المتحدثة باسم الخارجية الأمريكية تامي بروس عن تفاؤلها بإمكانية توصل المحادثات مع إيران إلى نتائج إيجابية.
وقالت في مؤتمر صحفي، مساء الخميس، إن الولايات المتحدة تشارك في هذه المحادثات لأنها تؤمن بإمكانية التوصل إلى نتيجة، حسب ما نقلت وسائل إعلام إيرانية.
وأضافت: «لقد أوضحنا في كل مشروع نعمل عليه، سواء تعلق الأمر بروسيا وأوكرانيا أو غيرهما، أن مشاركتنا تنبع فعلاً من شعورنا بأنه بإمكاننا إحداث فرق، ولهذا السبب نحن منخرطون في هذه العملية. ولو لم تكن لدينا آمال في احتمال نجاح هذه المفاوضات لما عُقد هذا الاجتماع».

The Italian capital, Rome, is hosting today (Friday) the fifth round of Iranian-American negotiations regarding the nuclear program, amid a stalemate in the uranium enrichment file.
The talks are being held ahead of a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board scheduled for next June in Vienna, where Iranian nuclear activities will be particularly addressed.
The Iranian delegation, headed by Araqchi, headed to Rome this morning (Friday), where the round is expected to take place with the American delegation led by Steve Wietcov.
The two countries have held four previous rounds mediated by Oman, which were described as positive; however, the recent period has seen a war of statements between them regarding the issue of allowing Iran to enrich uranium on its territory.
On the eve of the talks, Iran announced its readiness to open up to more inspections of its nuclear facilities. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told state television that his country is confident in the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, emphasizing that there is no fundamental problem in allowing more inspections.
He added that substantive disagreements still exist with the United States, warning that if Washington insists on preventing Iran from enriching uranium, there will be no agreement.
For his part, U.S. envoy to the Middle East Steve Wietcov stressed that Washington cannot allow even 1% of enrichment capability, which was met with Iranian rejection, as Tehran insists on its right to a civilian nuclear program and considers the American condition contrary to the 2015 agreement.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei confirmed that Iran does not wait for permission from "this or that" to enrich uranium, expressing doubts that talks with the United States would lead to any result.
The American network "CNN" reported that U.S. officials confirmed that Israel is preparing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities.
For her part, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce expressed optimism about the possibility of the talks with Iran yielding positive results.
She said at a press conference on Thursday evening that the United States is participating in these talks because it believes in the possibility of reaching a result, according to Iranian media reports.
She added: "We have made it clear in every project we are working on, whether related to Russia and Ukraine or others, that our participation genuinely stems from our feeling that we can make a difference, and that is why we are engaged in this process. If we did not have hopes for the success of these negotiations, this meeting would not have taken place."
