أحرج الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بشكل علني ضيفه رئيس جنوب أفريقيا سيريل رامافوسا في البيت الأبيض باتهامه بالفشل فى مواجهة قتل المزارعين البيض.
وفي اجتماع في المكتب البيضاوي، الأربعاء، حضره العشرات من المسؤولين من كلا البلدين، عرض ترمب بشكل غير متوقع لقطات فيديو لدعم اتهامه بـ«الإبادة» ضد جنوب أفريقيا.
وأظهرت الصور قبوراً على جانب الطريق، وقال الرئيس الجمهوري «إنه مشهد فظيع لم أر شيئاً كهذا من قبل»، وفقاً لوكالة الأنباء الألمانية (د ب أ).
ويشكك الخبراء في تصوير ترمب للإبادة المزعومة للمزارعين البيض في جنوب أفريقيا. وبفعل ذلك، يستخدم ترمب نظرية المؤامرة التي تنتشر في دوائر اليمين المتطرف بشأن ما يسمى بـ«الإبادة الجماعية للبيض».
ورد رامافوسا بشأن المقابر المزعومة: «هل قالوا لك أين هي سيدي الرئيس؟ أود أن أعرف أين هذا لأنني لم أرَ هذا من قبل» ووعد رامافوسا بالبحث في الأمر.
وقال ترمب: «الأشخاص يفرون من جنوب أفريقيا حفاظاً على سلامتهم»، وخفّض أضواء المكتب البيضاوي ليشغل مقطعاً مصوراً لسياسي شيوعي يذيع أغنية مناهضة للفصل العنصري ومثيرة للجدل تتضمن كلمات عن قتل مزارع.
وأضاف: «إن أراضيهم تتم مصادرتها ويتم قتلهم في كثير من الحالات».
ورفض رامافوسا اتهامات ترمب. ويسعى الرئيس الجنوب أفريقي لتوضيح الأمور وإنقاذ علاقة بلاده بالولايات المتحدة.
واحتدمت المحادثات المطولة بين ترمب ورامافوسا بعد عرض ترمب للمقطع الذي أظهر عمليات قتل مسيّسة في جنوب أفريقيا.
US President Donald Trump publicly embarrassed his guest, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, at the White House by accusing him of failing to address the killing of white farmers.
During a meeting in the Oval Office on Wednesday, attended by dozens of officials from both countries, Trump unexpectedly presented video footage to support his accusation of "genocide" against South Africa.
The images showed graves by the roadside, and the Republican president stated, "It’s a horrific sight; I’ve never seen anything like this before," according to the German news agency (dpa).
Experts are skeptical of Trump's portrayal of the alleged genocide of white farmers in South Africa. In doing so, Trump is using a conspiracy theory that is circulating in far-right circles regarding the so-called "white genocide."
In response to the alleged graves, Ramaphosa said, "Did they tell you where it is, Mr. President? I would like to know where this is because I have never seen this before," and he promised to look into the matter.
Trump stated, "People are fleeing South Africa for their safety," and dimmed the lights in the Oval Office to play a video of a communist politician singing a controversial anti-apartheid song that includes lyrics about killing a farmer.
He added, "Their land is being seized, and they are being killed in many cases."
Ramaphosa rejected Trump's accusations. The South African president is seeking to clarify matters and salvage his country's relationship with the United States.
The lengthy discussions between Trump and Ramaphosa intensified after Trump presented the clip showing politically motivated killings in South Africa.
