نقل موقع «أكسيوس» عن مسؤول أمريكي تأكيده أن نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جيه دي فانس تراجع عن السفر إلى إسرائيل الذي كان مقررا غدا (الثلاثاء)، وعزا السبب إلى توسيع العملية العسكرية في غزة. وأفاد المسؤول الأمريكي بأن مخاوف برزت من أن الزيارة إلى إسرائيل في هذا التوقيت قد تُفسر على أنها تمثل دعما أمريكيا للعملية العسكرية. وأضاف أن اللوجستيات لم تكن المشكلة، وأن فانس تراجع عن الزيارة بعد مضي رئيس الوزراء بنيامين نتنياهو في توسيع العملية العسكرية.
وحسب المصدر، فإن مناقشات أُجريت بين الجانبين استعدادا للزيارة، لكن الجانب الأمريكي فوجئ بإبلاغه بتوسيع العملية. ولفت إلى أن إستراتيجية واشنطن واضحة وهي أن المبعوث الأمريكي ستيفن ويتكوف قدم اقتراحا محدثا لإسرائيل وحماس ويحاول إقناعهما بالتوصل لصفقة جديدة.
وكان جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، بدأ أمس (الأحد) عملية برية في مناطق عدة داخل قطاع غزة في إطار بدء عملية «عربات جدعون»، في تصعيد خطير ضمن حرب الإبادة المتواصلة على القطاع.
وأعلنت وزارة الصحة في غزة أن عدد ضحايا العدوان على القطاع ارتفع إلى 53 ألفا و339 شهيدا و121 ألفا و34 مصابا منذ 7 أكتوبر 2023.
واستأنفت إسرائيل حرب الإبادة على قطاع غزة في 18 مارس الماضي بعد أن انقلبت على اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار، وخلال هذه الفترة أسفر القصف عن استشهاد نحو 3200 فلسطيني وإصابة نحو 9 آلاف، في حين تعرّض عشرات الآلاف للتهجير من مناطقهم.
