أعلنت الشرطة في فنلندا اليوم (السبت) مصرع ما لا يقل عن خمسة أشخاص جراء اصطدام مروحيّتين، موضحة أن العمل لا يزال جارياً لتحديد العدد الدقيق للضحايا وهويات الركّاب.
وأقلعت الطائرتان من إستونيا وكانتا تقلّان رجال أعمال، وبحسب وسائل إعلام فنلندية فإنه كان في الطائرة الأولى ثلاثة أشخاص، فيما تقل الثانية شخصين، والتقت الطائرتان غرب هلسنكي قرابة منتصف اليوم.
ونقلت صحيفة «إلتاليهتي» الفنلندية عن شاهد العيان أنتي ماريانين قوله إنّه رأى إحدى المروحيّتين تصطدم بالأخرى، مبيناً إن إحداهما سقطت كالحجر بينما سقطت الثانية ببطء أكثر.
ونقلت وسائل الإعلام عن الشرطة قولها إن المروحيتين كانتا في طريقهما إلى مركز للطيران في مدينة «كومو»، للمشاركة في فعالية جوية.
ورغم أن السلطات لم تعلن رسمياً المسؤول عن الحادث وأسبابه وهوية الركاب والطيارين إلا أن وسائل إعلام قالت إن السلطات تعرفت على هوية الطيارين ولا تزال هويات الركاب قيد التحقيق، فيما ذكرت صحيفة إستونية، أن الركاب كانوا رجال أعمال من إستونيا، وأن وزارة الخارجية الإستونية أكدت مصرعهم.
The police in Finland announced today (Saturday) that at least five people have died as a result of a collision between two helicopters, stating that work is still ongoing to determine the exact number of victims and the identities of the passengers.
The two helicopters took off from Estonia and were carrying businessmen. According to Finnish media, there were three people on the first helicopter, while the second one carried two people, and the two helicopters collided west of Helsinki around midday.
The Finnish newspaper "Ilta-Sanomat" quoted eyewitness Antti Marianen as saying that he saw one of the helicopters collide with the other, indicating that one fell like a stone while the other descended more slowly.
Media reports quoted the police as saying that the helicopters were on their way to an aviation center in the city of "Kumo" to participate in an aerial event.
Although the authorities have not officially announced who is responsible for the incident, the reasons behind it, or the identities of the passengers and pilots, media outlets reported that the authorities have identified the pilots, while the identities of the passengers are still under investigation. An Estonian newspaper mentioned that the passengers were businessmen from Estonia, and the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed their deaths.
