أشاد وزير الخارجية الروسي سرجي لافروف بالدور الإيجابي للولايات المتحدة الذي أسهم في قبول كييف اقتراح الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين، استئناف مفاوضات إسطنبول، موضحاً أنه ناقش مع نظيره الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، في اتصال هاتفي اليوم (السبت) نتائج المفاوضات التي انعقدت أمس.
وقالت وزارة الخارجية الروسية في بيان: «بمبادرة من الجانب الأمريكي جرت اليوم محادثة هاتفية بين وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي لافروف، ووزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو»، مبينة إن الوزيرين تبادلا الآراء حول نتائج المفاوضات الروسية الأوكرانية التي عقدت أمس في إسطنبول.
وأشارت الخارجية الروسية إلى أن روبيو رحب بالاتفاقيات المتعلقة بتبادل أسرى الحرب، وإعداد كل جانب لرؤيته للظروف اللازمة للتوصل إلى وقف إطلاق النار، وأكد استعداد واشنطن لمواصلة المساعدة في البحث عن تسوية.
ونقل البيان عن لافروف قوله: موسكو مستعدة لمواصلة العمل مع الزملاء الأمريكيين في هذا السياق، مؤكدة إن المحادثة تطرقت لبعض القضايا الدولية والإقليمية الأخرى، وتبادل الطرفان الآراء حول استمرار الاتصالات الروسية الأمريكية.
وكان وزير الدفاع الأوكراني رستم عمروف قد قال أمس إن بلاده ترى أن الخطوة التالية بعد مفاوضات إسطنبول الثلاثية بين روسيا وأوكرانيا وتركيا يجب أن تكون عقد اجتماع على مستوى القادة، مشير إلى أن الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي كان يتطلع إلى عقد لقاءات رفيعة المستوى خلال هذه الجولة من المفاوضات.
وقال عمروف: أعتقد أن خطوتنا التالية ستكون تنظيم لقاءات على مستوى القادة، وهذا هو ما نعمل عليه حالياً، مضيفاً: نحن نمتلك القوة والقدرة على مواصلة القتال، لكن في نهاية المطاف يجب إنهاء هذه الحرب.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised the positive role of the United States, which contributed to Kyiv's acceptance of Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to resume Istanbul negotiations, explaining that he discussed with his American counterpart Marco Rubio, in a phone call today (Saturday), the results of the negotiations that took place yesterday.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated in a statement: "At the initiative of the American side, a phone conversation took place today between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and American Foreign Minister Marco Rubio," indicating that the two ministers exchanged views on the results of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations that were held yesterday in Istanbul.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Rubio welcomed the agreements related to the exchange of prisoners of war and the preparation of each side's vision for the necessary conditions to reach a ceasefire, and confirmed Washington's readiness to continue assisting in seeking a settlement.
The statement quoted Lavrov as saying: Moscow is ready to continue working with American colleagues in this context, emphasizing that the conversation touched on some other international and regional issues, and both sides exchanged views on the continuation of Russian-American communications.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said yesterday that his country sees the next step after the trilateral Istanbul negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey as holding a leaders' level meeting, noting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was looking forward to high-level meetings during this round of negotiations.
Umerov said: I believe our next step will be to organize meetings at the leaders' level, and this is what we are currently working on, adding: We have the strength and capability to continue fighting, but ultimately this war must come to an end.
