The citizen Jaber Al-Yami narrated the details of how he and his colleague Mamdouh Al-Shammari saved a car accessories store and several vehicles in Jubail from burning.
He said in an interview with Al-Arabiya channel that he went out after performing the Fajr prayer to exercise, and while walking, he noticed smoke and flames coming from a car accessories store located among a large number of shops. He saw through the transparent glass about six cars and rushed to knock on the door and call out, fearing that there were workers trapped inside the store, but no one responded, so he reassured himself that the site was empty.
Al-Yami added that he encountered a person passing by the site, so he called for his help, and Mamdouh Al-Shammari did not hesitate to respond to the incident and filmed what was happening with his mobile phone to protect the store's property and to guard against the possibility of unknown individuals having caused the fire. He added, "Our intention in filming was to document the incident."
Al-Yami continued that he hurried to break the lock on the door and enter the site to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to the neighboring shops and workers' residences. He followed this by calling the civil defense, the police, the store owner, and the car owners. He said, "I experienced slight suffocation due to the smoke and went to the hospital, where I stayed for about 12 hours and left safely."
