شارك محافظ الهيئة العامة للتجارة الخارجية المكلّف محمد العبدالجبار، نيابةً عن وزير التجارة رئيس مجلس الإدارة الدكتور ماجد القصبي، في الاجتماع الوزاري لمجموعة عمل التجارة والاستثمار بمجموعة العشرين (G20)؛ الذي عُقد في جمهورية جنوب أفريقيا.
وأكَّد العبدالجبار تركيز المملكة على تعزيز التجارة بصفتها وسيلة لتحقيق النمو الشامل والمستدام، ولمواجهة التحديات العالمية كالأمن الغذائي، والاقتصاد الرقمي، والتحديات الجيوسياسية المؤثرة في التجارة الدولية، ودعمها للجهود الدولية الرامية إلى إصلاح منظمة التجارة العالمية. وأشار إلى جهود مجموعة الـ20 للتصدي للتحديات العالمية، إذ أطلقت خلال رئاسة المملكة عام 2020م خطة عمل جماعية قصيرة وطويلة المدى؛ للتخفيف من الأثر السلبي لجائحة كوفيد-19 على التجارة والاستثمار الدوليين، ما كان دليلاً من بين العديد من الأدلة الأخرى التي تُظهر أنه لا يزال بإمكان مجموعة الـ20 المضي قدماً في إصلاحات تهدف إلى تعزيز النظام التجاري متعدد الأطراف ودعم اقتصاد عالمي مفتوح وشامل. ونوَّه العبدالجبار بأهمية الحفاظ على النظام التجاري متعدد الأطراف ليكون شفافاً وقويّاً وأكثر إنصافاً، وليعزز النمو الاقتصادي وتحسين مستويات المعيشة للجميع بما يخدم الأهداف التنموية العالمية.
وعلى هامش الاجتماع، التقى محافظ الهيئة العامة للتجارة الخارجية بوزير البناء والتشييد والأراضي والمعلومات والمنشآت الصغيرة والتصنيع النيوزيلندي كريس بينك، ونائب وزير التجارة الصيني والممثل للتجارة الدولية لي تشينغ قانغ، ونائب وزير التجارة التركي الدكتور مصطفى توزجو، ومساعد وزير الاستثمار والتجارة الخارجية المصري محمد الجوسقي، ومساعد الممثل التجاري الأمريكي لمنظمة التجارة العالمية والشؤون متعددة الأطراف الدكتور نيل بيك، وجرت مناقشة مجالات التعاون والشراكة، وتطوير العلاقات وتعزيز التعاون التجاري والاستثماري.
يُذكر أن مجموعة عمل التجارة والاستثمار للعام الحالي (2025م) ناقشت عدداً من الأولويات في التجارة والنمو الشامل ومعالجة التحديات المشتركة عالمياً، ومبادئ مجموعة الـ20 رفيعة المستوى بشأن التصنيع المستدام، وإصلاح منظمة التجارة العالمية.

The Acting Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, Mohammed Al-Abduljabar, participated on behalf of the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, in the ministerial meeting of the Trade and Investment Working Group of the G20, which was held in the Republic of South Africa.
Al-Abduljabar emphasized the Kingdom's focus on enhancing trade as a means to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth, and to address global challenges such as food security, the digital economy, and geopolitical challenges affecting international trade, as well as its support for international efforts aimed at reforming the World Trade Organization. He pointed to the G20's efforts to tackle global challenges, as it launched, during the Kingdom's presidency in 2020, a short- and long-term collective action plan to mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on international trade and investment, which was evidence among many others showing that the G20 can still move forward with reforms aimed at enhancing the multilateral trading system and supporting an open and inclusive global economy. Al-Abduljabar highlighted the importance of maintaining a multilateral trading system that is transparent, robust, and fairer, to promote economic growth and improve living standards for all in line with global development goals.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Acting Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade met with New Zealand's Minister of Building and Construction, Lands, and Small Business and Manufacturing, Chris Pink, China's Deputy Minister of Commerce and International Trade Representative, Li Qinggang, Turkey's Deputy Minister of Commerce, Dr. Mustafa Tozcu, Egypt's Assistant Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Al-Jousqi, and the U.S. Assistant Trade Representative for the World Trade Organization and Multilateral Affairs, Dr. Neil Beck. Discussions were held on areas of cooperation and partnership, developing relations, and enhancing trade and investment cooperation.
It is worth noting that the Trade and Investment Working Group for this year (2025) discussed several priorities in trade and inclusive growth, addressing common global challenges, the G20's high-level principles on sustainable manufacturing, and the reform of the World Trade Organization.
