أكدت المديرية العامة للجوازات أن سجل الأسرة لم يعد يُعتبر وثيقة سفر، وأنه لا يُغني عن إصدار جواز سفر مستقل لكل فرد من أفراد الأسرة عند السفر إلى أي من دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي أو غيرها.
وأوضحت الجوازات عبر حسابها الرسمي لخدمة العملاء في منصة «إكس» أن إصدار جواز سفر منفصل يُعد شرطاً أساسياً للسفر، بما في ذلك للأطفال، وأن سجل الأسرة يقتصر دوره على إثبات التبعية الأسرية داخل المملكة ولا يُستخدم كوثيقة عبور دولية.
وجاء هذا الإيضاح عبر استفسارٍ من مواطنة تساءلت عن إمكانية دخولها إلى دول الخليج مع أطفالها باستخدام سجل الأسرة دون جوازات سفر مستقلة، لتؤكد الجوازات في ردها أن السفر يتطلب جوازاً رسمياً لكل شخص.
The General Directorate of Passports confirmed that the family record is no longer considered a travel document, and it does not replace the need to issue a separate passport for each family member when traveling to any of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries or elsewhere.
The passports authority clarified through its official customer service account on the "X" platform that issuing a separate passport is a fundamental requirement for travel, including for children, and that the family record is limited to proving family affiliation within the Kingdom and is not used as an international transit document.
This clarification came in response to an inquiry from a citizen who asked about the possibility of entering Gulf countries with her children using the family record without separate passports, to which the passports authority confirmed in its reply that travel requires an official passport for each person.
