برعاية كريمة من المستشار الخاص لخادم الحرمين الشريفين رئيس مجلس أمناء مركز الملك سلمان لأبحاث الإعاقة الأمير سلطان بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، اختُتمت أمس فعاليات الملتقى الأول لأبحاث الإعاقة تحت شعار: «نبحث اليوم.. لنتمكن غداً»، الذي نظمه المركز باستضافة جامعة الملك سعود بن عبدالعزيز للعلوم الصحية في قاعة المؤتمرات الكبرى بمقر الجامعة بالرياض.
ويُعد الملتقى خطوة نوعية في مسار تطوير البحث العلمي في مجال الإعاقة داخل المملكة، إذ يهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على أحدث المستجدات العلمية والتقنية في هذا المجال، وتحفيز التعاون بين الباحثين والمختصين، ودعم الابتكارات التي تسهم في تحسين جودة حياة الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة.
جلسات حوارية يرأسها الأمير سلطان بن سلمان
استُهلت فعاليات الملتقى بجلسة حوارية مميزة بعنوان «الاتجاهات البحثية في مجال الإعاقة»، رأسها الأمير سلطان بن سلمان، وشارك فيها كل من:
رئيس جامعة الملك سعود بن عبدالعزيز للعلوم الصحية الدكتور بندر بن عبدالمحسن القناوي.
والرئيس التنفيذي لمستشفى الملك فيصل التخصصي ومركز الأبحاث الدكتور ماجد بن إبراهيم الفياض.
ورئيس الفريق الإستراتيجي لبرنامج «الجرأة نحو المستقبل» العالم الرائد في أبحاث الدماغ والوعي البروفيسور ستيفن لوريس.
وأدار الجلسة المدير التنفيذي لمركز الملك عبدالله العالمي للأبحاث الطبية الدكتور أحمد العسكر.
وفي كلمته خلال الجلسة رفع الأمير سلطان بن سلمان أسمى آيات الشكر والعرفان لمقام خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز على دعمه الدائم واهتمامه الكبير بقضية الإعاقة، مؤكدا أن هذا الدعم هو الأساس في تحقيق المنجزات النوعية، وفي مقدمتها إنشاء مركز الملك سلمان لأبحاث الإعاقة الذي أصبح مرجعا وطنيا رائدا في تطوير المعرفة والبحث العلمي في هذا المجال.
كما أشاد برؤية المملكة 2030 التي يقودها ولي العهد وما تتضمنه من مرتكزات تهدف إلى تهيئة بيئة شاملة تضمن تمكين الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وتعزز مشاركتهم في مختلف مجالات الحياة.
وقدّم شكره للدكتور بندر القناوي ومسؤولي الجامعة على استضافتهم الملتقى، مشيرا إلى الشراكة الإستراتيجية الوطيدة بين المركز والجامعة، وما تحققه من تعاون علمي مثمر لتقديم حلول مبتكرة للتحديات التي تواجه الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة، مؤكدا أن الملتقى يمثل منصة علمية مهمة لتعزيز التكامل بين الباحثين والممارسين وصناع القرار ودعم مستهدفات المملكة في الابتكار والتمكين.

إطلاق المؤتمر الدولي السابع للإعاقة والتأهيل وجائزة الملك سلمان العالمية لأبحاث الإعاقة
خلال الجلسة الحوارية، أعلن الأمير سلطان بن سلمان انطلاق التحضيرات لأعمال المؤتمر الدولي السابع للإعاقة والتأهيل، برعاية كريمة من خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، والمقرر انعقاده في ديسمبر 2026، بمشاركة نخبة من الخبراء والباحثين والجهات الدولية ذات العلاقة.
كما أعلن انطلاق أعمال جائزة الملك سلمان العالمية لأبحاث الإعاقة في دورتها الرابعة، التي ستُمنح بالتزامن مع المؤتمر، وتهدف إلى تكريم الإنجازات البحثية المتميزة وتحفيز التنافس العلمي العالمي لإيجاد حلول مبتكرة ومستدامة تسهم في تمكين الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وتعزيز مشاركتهم الفاعلة في المجتمع.
تدشين مبادرات نوعية لتعزيز البحث والتمكين
ضمن فعاليات الملتقى، تفضل الأمير سلطان بن سلمان بتدشين عدد من المبادرات النوعية، هي:
• مبادرة وادي الابتكار
• الأبحاث الموجهة
• دعم النشر العلمي لمجلتَي Nature وScience
وأوضح أن هذه المبادرات تمثل امتدادا لنهج وطني يضع قضايا الإعاقة ضمن أولويات التنمية الشاملة، مؤكدا أن المركز ملتزم بالعمل المؤسسي القائم على الأدلة العلمية ودعم البيئة البحثية والابتكارية في هذا المجال الحيوي.
وقال: «نحن لا نطلق المبادرات لمجرد العدد، بل نحرص على أن تكون ذات أثر ملموس، قابلة للقياس، وتُحدث فرقا حقيقيا في حياة الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وأسرهم، بالتعاون مع شركائنا من الجهات الوطنية والدولية».
تكريم المتحدثين والمشاركين
في ختام الجلسة الحوارية الأولى، تفضل الأمير سلطان بن سلمان بتكريم المتحدثين المشاركين تقديرا لمساهماتهم العلمية والمعرفية، كما التُقطت صورة جماعية معهم في لفتة كريمة تعكس التقدير والدعم المستمر للجهود العلمية وأهمية التعاون وتبادل الخبرات بين المختصين والمؤسسات المعنية.
الجلسة الحوارية الثانية.. من الإعاقة إلى الريادة
عُقدت الجلسة الحوارية الثانية بعنوان «الجرأة في مواجهة التحديات: من الإعاقة إلى الريادة» بمشاركة نخبة من العلماء والخبراء:

وأدارت الجلسة عميد معهد تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية بجامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية الدكتورة أمل الجاسر.
وتناولت الجلسة تجارب ملهمة سلطت الضوء على قوة الإرادة والعلم في تجاوز التحديات وتحقيق التمكين، وشهدت تفاعلا مثريا من الحضور الذين أثروا النقاش بمداخلاتهم وأسئلتهم.
ورشة عمل متخصصة لرعاية الأطفال ذوي الاحتياجات الطبية المعقدة
شهد الملتقى تنظيم ورشة عمل بعنوان «مقدمة في رعاية الأطفال ذوي الاحتياجات الطبية المعقدة» قدمتها استشاري رعاية الأطفال ذوي الاحتياجات الطبية المعقدة في مستشفى الملك عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الجامعي - جامعة الأميرة نورة بنت عبدالرحمن الدكتورة بدرية حسن البريكي.
وتناولت الورشة الجوانب الابتكارية والتخصصية، واستعرضت التحديات الشائعة في الرعاية، وربطت ذلك برؤية المملكة 2030 في تطوير الخدمات الصحية لهذه الفئة.
معرض مصاحب وملصقات علمية تجسد الابتكار
ضمن فعاليات الملتقى، أُقيم معرض علمي مصاحب بمشاركة مركز الملك سلمان لأبحاث الإعاقة، وجامعة الملك سعود بن عبدالعزيز للعلوم الصحية، ومركز الملك عبدالله العالمي للأبحاث الطبية (كيمارك)، وجمعية الأطفال ذوي الإعاقة.
واستعرضت الأجنحة المشاركة تقنيات مساعدة قائمة على الذكاء الاصطناعي، والتحول الرقمي في خدمات الإعاقة، والسياسات العامة ودورها في التمكين. كما عُرضت ملصقات علمية وأفكار ابتكارية ركزت على تحسين جودة حياة الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة ودعم فرصهم في التعليم والعمل والمشاركة المجتمعية.
توصيات الملتقى
اختُتمت أعمال الملتقى بعدد من التوصيات، أبرزها:
• مواصلة دعم الأبحاث التطبيقية في مجال الإعاقة.
• تعزيز التعاون بين المراكز البحثية المحلية والدولية.

Under the generous patronage of the Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the first forum for disability research concluded yesterday under the slogan: "We Research Today... to Empower Tomorrow," organized by the center in collaboration with King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences at the university's main conference hall in Riyadh.
The forum is considered a qualitative step in the development of scientific research in the field of disability within the Kingdom, aiming to highlight the latest scientific and technological developments in this field, stimulate collaboration among researchers and specialists, and support innovations that contribute to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Panel Discussions Led by Prince Sultan bin Salman
The forum commenced with a distinguished panel discussion titled "Research Trends in the Field of Disability," chaired by Prince Sultan bin Salman, featuring:
The President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Dr. Bandar bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Qanawi.
The CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Dr. Majid bin Ibrahim Al-Fayyad.
The Head of the Strategic Team for the "Daring Towards the Future" program, the leading scientist in brain and consciousness research, Professor Stephen Lorriss.
The session was moderated by the Executive Director of the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center, Dr. Ahmed Al-Askar.
In his speech during the session, Prince Sultan bin Salman expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, for his continuous support and great interest in the issue of disability, affirming that this support is the foundation for achieving qualitative accomplishments, foremost among them the establishment of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, which has become a leading national reference in developing knowledge and scientific research in this field.
He also praised Saudi Vision 2030, led by the Crown Prince, for its foundations aimed at creating an inclusive environment that ensures the empowerment of people with disabilities and enhances their participation in various aspects of life.
He expressed his gratitude to Dr. Bandar Al-Qanawi and the university officials for hosting the forum, pointing to the strong strategic partnership between the center and the university, which achieves fruitful scientific collaboration to provide innovative solutions to the challenges faced by people with disabilities, emphasizing that the forum represents an important scientific platform to enhance integration among researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers and support the Kingdom's objectives in innovation and empowerment.

Launch of the Seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation and the King Salman Global Award for Disability Research
During the panel discussion, Prince Sultan bin Salman announced the preparations for the Seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation, under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, scheduled to be held in December 2026, with the participation of a selection of experts, researchers, and relevant international entities.
He also announced the launch of the King Salman Global Award for Disability Research in its fourth cycle, which will be awarded concurrently with the conference, aimed at honoring outstanding research achievements and stimulating global scientific competition to find innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to empowering people with disabilities and enhancing their active participation in society.
Launching Quality Initiatives to Enhance Research and Empowerment
As part of the forum's activities, Prince Sultan bin Salman inaugurated several quality initiatives, which are:
• Innovation Valley Initiative
• Targeted Research
• Support for Scientific Publishing in the journals Nature and Science
He explained that these initiatives represent an extension of a national approach that places disability issues among the priorities of comprehensive development, emphasizing that the center is committed to evidence-based institutional work and supporting the research and innovative environment in this vital field.
He stated: "We do not launch initiatives merely for the sake of quantity, but we strive to ensure they have a tangible impact, are measurable, and make a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities and their families, in collaboration with our partners from national and international entities."

Specialized Workshop on Caring for Children with Complex Medical Needs
The forum witnessed the organization of a workshop titled "Introduction to Caring for Children with Complex Medical Needs," presented by the consultant for the care of children with complex medical needs at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital - Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Dr. Badriya Hassan Al-Buraiki.
The workshop addressed innovative and specialized aspects, reviewed common challenges in care, and linked this to Saudi Vision 2030 in developing health services for this group.

As part of the forum's activities, a scientific exhibition was held with the participation of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KIMARC), and the Association of Disabled Children.
