The International Cybersecurity Forum announced the launch of the "Child Protection Index in Cyberspace" in collaboration with the International Institute (DQ) and relevant international organizations. This initiative aligns with the strategic objectives of the global initiative launched by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, "Protecting Children in Cyberspace," which aims to enhance collective action, unify international efforts, raise global awareness among decision-makers about the increasing threats faced by children in cyberspace, and strengthen global responses through international cooperation as one of the strategic tools for addressing vital issues related to child protection in cyberspace.

During the International Cybersecurity Forum 2025 held in the capital, Riyadh, the International Cybersecurity Forum announced that the "Child Protection Index in Cyberspace" has been developed as a global tool to measure progress in creating a safer cyberspace for children. It also provides decision-makers with practical insights that contribute to enhancing child protection in cyberspace. The index is based on a comprehensive measurement methodology and focuses on all dimensions related to child protection, including schools, parents, technical infrastructure, private sector companies, and national policies regarding child protection.

The "Protecting Children in Cyberspace" initiative aims to achieve ambitious international targets by reaching over 150 million children worldwide, developing cybersecurity skills for more than 16 million beneficiaries, and supporting the implementation of frameworks to respond to the cyber threats faced by children in more than 50 countries around the world.

Previously, the International Cybersecurity Forum completed a global study that highlighted the issue of child protection in cyberspace as a vital and urgent international topic. This study, which involved over 40,000 participants from 24 countries across 6 regions worldwide, enabled the development of a comprehensive understanding of international needs and the creation of an integrated strategy that resulted in national frameworks, guidelines, and international projects that the International Cybersecurity Forum has been working to implement with several international partners.

Regarding the program launched by the International Cybersecurity Forum in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) under the "Protecting Children in Cyberspace" initiative, the forum revealed support for child helplines in more than 30 countries, along with the development of frameworks to train over 5 million parents and caregivers on the principles of cybersecurity for children.

As the "Protecting Children in Cyberspace" initiative gains significant importance in light of the increasing global threats and the limited readiness to address this issue at the national level, the unanimous adoption by the United Nations Human Rights Council in July 2025 of the resolution presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding the protection of children in cyberspace, stemming from the Crown Prince's global initiative, embodies the strategic objectives of the initiative and affirms the Kingdom's efforts to build a safer cyberspace for children around the world.

The International Cybersecurity Forum, established by royal decree in 2023 as an independent entity with an international dimension, is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Crown Prince's global initiatives as one of its missions. It aims to unify the efforts of stakeholders globally by opening avenues for partnership, cooperation, and exchange of experiences, and to promote dialogue among leading experts on cybersecurity issues related to child protection and women's empowerment, thereby supporting economic and social development worldwide.
