تستضيف المملكة الدورة السابعة والعشرين لهيئة الغابات والمراعي في الشرق الأدنى، بتنسيق مشترك بين منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) والمركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر، وذلك خلال الفترة من 29 سبتمبر الجاري وحتى الأول من أكتوبر القادم.
ومن المتوقع أن تتناول الدورة الـ27 لهيئة الغابات والمراعي في الشرق الأدنى، المقرر انعقادها في منطقة مكة المكرمة، الأساليب المتطورة والحلول المتكاملة التي يمكنها إطلاق العنان للإمكانات الكاملة للغابات والمراعي في مواجهة تأثيرات تغير المناخ، وتعزيز النظم الغذائية المرتبطة بهما، إلى جانب دعم التنمية الريفية الشاملة والمستدامة.
وستتناول عدداً من الموضوعات المحورية، منها بحث التكامل بين قطاع الغابات والقطاعات الأخرى كالزراعة الحرجية، ووضع أطر عمل متكاملة لاستعادة الأراضي والنظم الإيكولوجية المتدهورة، وتقديم الحلول الفعالة لمواجهة الجفاف والتصحر، مع التركيز بشكلٍ خاص على ظاهرتي حرائق الغابات والأنواع الغازية، وستُسلّط المناقشات الضوء على مبادرة المدن الخضراء وزراعة الأشجار في مكافحة العواصف الرملية والترابية، والتحول التكنولوجي، وتطبيق الذكاء الاصطناعي لدعم أنظمة الأراضي القادرة على الصمود في مواجهة تغير المناخ.
وبهذه المناسبة أوضح وزير البيئة والمياه والزراعة المهندس عبدالرحمن الفضلي أن استضافة المملكة الدورة السابعة والعشرين لهيئة الغابات والمراعي في الشرق الأدنى تأتي ضمن جهودها الحثيثة في تعزيز الاستدامة البيئية ومواكبة الجهود العالمية في هذا الشأن، لاسيما في إطار رئاستها الحالية لمؤتمر أطراف الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر (COP16)، فضلاً عن المبادرات البيئية التي تتبناها المملكة مثل مبادرة السعودية الخضراء، ومبادرة الشرق الأوسط الأخضر.
The Kingdom is hosting the 27th session of the Near East Forestry and Range Commission, in a joint coordination between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification, from September 29 to October 1.
The 27th session of the Near East Forestry and Range Commission, scheduled to be held in the Makkah region, is expected to address advanced methods and integrated solutions that can unleash the full potential of forests and rangelands in facing the impacts of climate change, enhancing the associated food systems, as well as supporting comprehensive and sustainable rural development.
It will cover several key topics, including exploring the integration between the forestry sector and other sectors such as agroforestry, establishing integrated frameworks for restoring degraded lands and ecosystems, and providing effective solutions to combat drought and desertification, with a particular focus on the phenomena of wildfires and invasive species. Discussions will highlight the Green Cities Initiative and tree planting in combating sand and dust storms, technological transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence to support resilient land systems in the face of climate change.
On this occasion, the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Fadli, clarified that the Kingdom's hosting of the 27th session of the Near East Forestry and Range Commission comes as part of its diligent efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and keep pace with global efforts in this regard, especially within the framework of its current presidency of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16), in addition to the environmental initiatives adopted by the Kingdom, such as the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative.
