Modern history records the positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on all Arab and Islamic issues, with the Palestinian cause being the foremost issue for Arabs and Muslims. Saudi support has been present since the occupation of Palestine, and this cause has been inherited by the Saudi leadership. This was affirmed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, when he said: "The Kingdom's position on the Palestinian cause is steadfast and unwavering throughout its glorious history, from its founder King Abdulaziz - may God have mercy on him - until now." Even today, Saudi Arabia leads diplomatic efforts for the recognition of the State of Palestine and the cessation of the genocide.
The Kingdom is considered one of the first countries to provide support to the Palestine Liberation Organization, followed by the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian people. It has worked realistically to uphold the legitimate rights of Palestinians to their land and has supported the cause at all stages and on all political, economic, and social levels in international forums. This is based on its belief that its efforts for Palestine represent a duty imposed by its faith, conscience, and belonging to its Arab and Islamic nations. It has a clear role in enhancing the resilience of the Palestinian people and achieving their aspirations to build their independent state.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, always emphasizes the importance of the Palestinian cause for the Kingdom and the Saudi people in particular, and for the Arab and Islamic worlds in general, considering it a matter of concern for the Kingdom, which views defending the rights of the Palestinian people as a national and religious duty until they regain all their rights to their lands.
Since its establishment until today, the Kingdom has worked to support the Palestinian cause within an ethical framework dictated by its Islamic religion and Arab culture, often exposing its national security to danger for the sake of this cause, which it firmly believes will remain a constant issue in the Kingdom's policies over the years.
Discussing Saudi positions regarding the Palestinian cause cannot be fully covered in this brief manner, but the Kingdom operates according to fixed principles; foremost among them is that it gives all attention to the issues of the Islamic and Arab nations through joint action, with the Palestinian cause at the forefront. It emphasizes that East Jerusalem is an Arab issue that is non-negotiable and cannot be abandoned in any way, and that the responsibility for preserving Jerusalem and liberating the occupied lands lies with all Arabs and Muslims.
The steadfast moral position of Saudi Arabia is reflected in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz's affirmation that one of the priorities of the Kingdom's policy and principles is to seek a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative. The Kingdom will continue its efforts to support this cause in order to establish the State of Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem and restore the rights of the Palestinian people.
