احتفت القيادة البرلمانية البريطانية بالأمين العام لرابطة العالم الإسلامي، رئيس هيئة علماء المسلمين، الشيخ الدكتور محمد العيسى، إذ التقى برئيس البرلمان البريطاني، السير ليندسي هويل في مكتبه بالعاصمة لندن، والذي يعد الأول من نوعه مع شخصية دينية إسلامية.
واستعرض اللقاءُ مرتكزات التماسك المجتمعي في بلدان التنوع الديني والإثني، وفي طليعتها الاحترام المتبادل، وسن التشريعات الكفيلة بمواجهة مهددات وحدة المجتمعات الوطنية، ومن أخطرها خطاب الكراهية وأساليب التمييز والإقصاء التي تستهدف الروح الوطنية(patriotism)، ولا سيما إذا صدرت عن كيانات اعتبارية ذات تأثير في بلدان التنوع الوطني.
كما تناول اللقاء مبادرة رابطة العالم الإسلامي في مقرّ الأمم المتحدة بنيويورك بعنوان: «بناء جسور التفاهم والتعاون بين الشرق والغرب»، بحضور قيادات في الأمم المتحدة، وعدد من الشخصيات الدولية المهتمة؛ من حكوميين وبرلمانيين وقيادات دينية ومنظمات دولية ومراكز أبحاث وفكر عالمية.
وأكد الشيخ العيسى أن عموم المسلمين في المجتمع البريطاني على قدر كبير من الوعي الديني والوطني، وأن الأصوات الشاذة متى وُجدت فحالها حال بقية نظائرها حول العالم؛ حيث لا تُمَثّل إلا نفسها ولا تُمثل قيم الدين الإسلامي الذي يُشَكِّل السلوك الديني الحقيقي لمسلمي بريطانيا ويؤكد على اعتزازهم بوطنهم ومَلِكِهم واحترامهم للأنظمة والقوانين، والتنوع الذي يميز المملكة المتحدة.
بعد اللقاء صحب رئيس البرلمان البريطاني، الأمين العامّ في جولة خلال أروقة البرلمان احتفاءً بالزيارة.
وكان البرلمان البريطاني استضاف في مقرّه بالعاصمة «لندن» اجتماعاً مع الأمين العام، رئيس هيئة علماء المسلمين، الشيخ الدكتور محمد العيسى، بحضور عددٍ من أعضائه.
وتناولَ الاجتماعُ سبلَ تعزيز الاندماج والوئام بين مكونات المجتمع البريطاني، ومكافحة التطرف والكراهية، كما تمّ التطرق للجهود التي تبذلها #رابطة_العالم_الإسلامي في بناء الجسور بين الحضارات والشعوب.
من جهة أخرى، التقت نائبة رئيس الوزراء البريطاني، السيدة أنجيلا راينر، بالأمين العام، رئيس هيئة علماء المسلمين، الشيخ الدكتور محمد العيسى، وجرى خلال اللقاءِ استعراضُ عددٍ من الموضوعات ذات العلاقة بالإسلاموفوبيا ومكافحة خطاب الكراهية، وتناول خطاب فضيلته الذي استضافه مقرّ الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، في مناسبة إحياء اليوم الدولي لمكافحة الإسلاموفوبيا، وعبر العيسى عن تحياته لرئيس الوزراء المتواجد خارج المملكة المتحدة.
The British parliamentary leadership celebrated the Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, as he met with the Speaker of the British Parliament, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, in his office in the capital, London, marking the first of its kind with an Islamic religious figure.
The meeting reviewed the foundations of social cohesion in countries of religious and ethnic diversity, foremost among them mutual respect and the enactment of legislation capable of addressing threats to the unity of national communities, among the most dangerous of which are hate speech and methods of discrimination and exclusion that target patriotism, especially if they come from influential entities in countries of national diversity.
The meeting also discussed the initiative of the Muslim World League at the United Nations headquarters in New York titled: "Building Bridges of Understanding and Cooperation Between East and West," attended by leaders from the United Nations and several international figures interested in the matter, including government officials, parliamentarians, religious leaders, international organizations, and global research and think tanks.
Sheikh Al-Issa affirmed that the general Muslim community in British society possesses a significant level of religious and national awareness, and that the deviant voices, when they exist, are akin to their counterparts around the world; they represent only themselves and do not reflect the values of Islam, which constitute the true religious behavior of Muslims in Britain, emphasizing their pride in their homeland and their king, as well as their respect for the systems and laws, and the diversity that characterizes the United Kingdom.
After the meeting, the Speaker of the British Parliament accompanied the Secretary-General on a tour through the corridors of Parliament in celebration of the visit.
The British Parliament hosted a meeting with the Secretary-General, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, at its headquarters in the capital "London," attended by several of its members.
The meeting addressed ways to enhance integration and harmony among the components of British society and combat extremism and hatred. It also touched upon the efforts made by the #Muslim_World_League in building bridges between civilizations and peoples.
On another note, the Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Ms. Angela Rayner, met with the Secretary-General, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa. During the meeting, several topics related to Islamophobia and combating hate speech were discussed, including his address hosted by the United Nations headquarters in New York on the occasion of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia. Al-Issa conveyed his greetings to the Prime Minister, who is currently outside the United Kingdom.
