The Arab States Broadcasting Union, chaired by the Kingdom, announced the activation of its media activities in Syria, in a move that reflects the Union's commitment to expanding its geographical presence and enhancing Arab media integration by opening new horizons for professional and investment cooperation with Syrian media bodies.
This decision comes as part of a broader strategic direction adopted by the Union during its 113th Executive Council meeting, which was held with the presence of representatives from member states to discuss developments in joint media work and review the Union's programs for the current year.
In his speech, the Union's President and CEO of the Broadcasting and Television Authority, Fahd Al-Harthi, clarified that the decision is inspired by the position of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, who supports Syria's return to its Arab surroundings, contributing to opening a new chapter of regional cooperation and Arab integration.
Al-Harthi stated: "Today, we continue in the Arab States Broadcasting Union what His Highness started with a humanitarian approach through media, which we believe serves as a bridge for communication, a means to raise awareness, and a tool for building a shared Arab future that reflects the aspirations of the peoples and respects communities."
He expressed gratitude to the Republic of Iraq for the exceptional facilitation it provided to ensure the success of the Arab Media Conference, praising the wide international attendance that characterized this session, which solidified the conference's position as an independent brand representing Arab media in global forums.
He pointed to the qualitative leap achieved by the Union in the field of news exchange through the ASBU Cloud platform, which contributed to accelerating and expanding the scope of news content exchange among member bodies at both regional and international levels.
The meeting witnessed a comprehensive presentation of the Union's activities for the current year, which included areas of news and programming exchange, coverage of major events within and outside the Arab region, in addition to training programs and investment initiatives aimed at building a sustainable Arab media model.
