The Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, visited today the headquarters of the General Transport Center affiliated with the Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and the Holy Sites in the area of Arafat.

He was received by the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Transport Authority, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Acting Chairman of the Public Transport Authority, Dr. Rami bin Mohammed Al-Rami, and the CEO of the Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and the Holy Sites, Engineer Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rashid.

During the visit, the Minister of Interior listened to an explanation about the transport system's operations during this year's Hajj season, and the planning, operation, and control mechanisms managed by the center, including central operation rooms and sub-control rooms, which work to organize crowd movement, direct buses, and ensure smooth flow through the use of real-time data analysis tools and direct monitoring systems.

The Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee, was briefed on the interactive map of the service routes for pilgrims between the area of Mina and the Grand Mosque during the days of Tashreeq, which regulates the shuttle transport movement and specifies the closure timings for each route.

It is noteworthy that the General Transport Center is responsible for organizing and managing the transport system in Mecca and the Holy Sites through multiple operational patterns, including shuttle transport, single and double returns, and the Mashair Train, in direct coordination with more than ten government entities to ensure functional integration among the components of the Hajj system.

The center's tasks include supervising the flow of pilgrims to the Mashair Train through a color-coded card system in collaboration with the Saudi Railways Company (SAR), in addition to overseeing the implementation of the operational plan for the stations and transport routes, and determining the locations of emergency centers in coordination with the relevant authorities. A total of (71) centers and response points have been established in the Holy Sites, executed by the Kadana Development and Investment Company.

The visit was attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Prince Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayaf, the Assistant Minister of Interior, Dr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Falih, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Battal, the Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Security Committee for Hajj, Major General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Basami, the Undersecretary of the Mecca Region for Hajj Affairs, Dr. Salah Saqr, and the Director General of the General Traffic Department, Major General Engineer Ali bin Mohsen Al-Zahrani.
