The Kingdom participated yesterday in the celebration of the International Day for the Development of Women's Health to raise awareness of ongoing efforts to improve women's health conditions and increase awareness of women's health issues, as well as to enhance healthcare services for women around the world.
The Kingdom reflects its efforts in developing women's health as a fundamental part of sustainable development through its health and legislative programs, striving to improve the quality of women's lives and empower them to actively participate in society, within the framework of Vision 2030, which aims to enhance the role of women in society and empower them in various fields.
The Ministry of Health leads, as part of its health transformation project as a key axis in developing its services, comprehensive national efforts to improve women's health through a system of preventive, therapeutic, and awareness programs, in addition to focusing on efforts made to care for the most vulnerable groups of women in remote areas and those with disabilities, reflecting the principle of comprehensive health equity.
Effective programs to improve women's health include initiatives for early disease detection, by implementing mobile clinics for early detection of diabetes, hypertension, and osteoporosis, in addition to early detection programs for breast cancer, and organizing health awareness programs in schools, shopping centers, and hospital waiting areas, focusing on the prevention of anemia and iron deficiency, balanced healthy nutrition, and combating smoking.
These programs also offer an advanced pregnancy program, a national breastfeeding support program, and a healthy marriage program that includes screenings for genetic and infectious diseases, along with providing necessary health services for emergency cases.
Alongside health efforts, the Kingdom is working to empower women in economic empowerment areas by increasing the percentage of women's participation in the labor market, which rose from (21.2%) in 2017 to (35.4%) in 2024, and providing equal educational and training opportunities for both genders, with a focus on technical and scientific fields.
