شارك وزير الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات المهندس عبدالله بن عامر السواحه في الاجتماع الرفيع المستوى للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة لمراجعة تنفيذ نتائج القمة العالمية لمجتمع المعلومات (WSIS).
وأكد أن ما حققته المملكة يجسّد أعظم قصة نجاح رقمية في القرن الـ21، بدعمٍ كريم من خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز وتمكينٍ مباشر من ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، ورؤيتهما الطموحة لبناء مستقبل تقني شامل.
المملكة تتصدّر مؤشر تنمية الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات
وأوضح السواحه أن التقدم العالمي في مجتمع المعلومات انعكس عالمياً بارتفاع عدد المتصلين بالإنترنت من نحو 800 مليون إلى قرابة 6 مليارات مستخدم، فيما تصدّرت المملكة مؤشر تنمية الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات (IDI) الصادر عن الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات (ITU) على المستوى العالمي، وحققت تقدمًا لافتًا في تمكين المرأة في العالم الرقمي، لتصل نسبة مشاركتها إلى نحو 36٪.
وأشار إلى أن التحدي الأبرز اليوم يتمثل في سد فجوات الذكاء الاصطناعي، المتمثلة في الفجوة الحاسوبية، وفجوة البيانات، وفجوة الخوارزميات، مبينًا أن المملكة سخّرت إمكاناتها لتعزيز قدرات الحوسبة المتقدمة، وإطلاق نماذج لغوية وطنية تسهم في سد فجوة البيانات في العالم العربي، وفي مقدمتها نموذج «علّام» للذكاء الاصطناعي، إلى جانب تحقيق إنجازات علمية عالمية، من بينها فوز العالِم السعودي عمر ياغي بجائزة نوبل في الكيمياء لعام 2025، في تجسيدٍ للحضور العلمي السعودي على الساحة الدولية.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, participated in the high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly to review the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
He affirmed that what the Kingdom has achieved embodies the greatest success story in digital transformation in the 21st century, with generous support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and direct empowerment from the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with their ambitious vision to build an inclusive technological future.
The Kingdom Tops the ICT Development Index
Al-Swaha explained that global progress in the information society has been reflected worldwide by an increase in the number of internet users from about 800 million to nearly 6 billion users, while the Kingdom topped the ICT Development Index (IDI) issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at the global level, achieving remarkable progress in empowering women in the digital world, with their participation rate reaching about 36%.
He pointed out that the biggest challenge today lies in bridging the gaps in artificial intelligence, represented by the computing gap, the data gap, and the algorithm gap, indicating that the Kingdom has harnessed its capabilities to enhance advanced computing capabilities and launch national language models that contribute to bridging the data gap in the Arab world, foremost among them being the "Allam" AI model, alongside achieving global scientific accomplishments, including the Saudi scientist Omar Yaghi winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for 2025, exemplifying the Saudi scientific presence on the international stage.
