The Houthi terrorists will not succeed in breaking the will of Saudi Arabia, not because that will is supported by internal and external reinforcements; but because it has remained steadfast and unbreakable since the establishment of the kingdom nearly a century ago, before and after the discovery of oil, and up to the present time.
Nevertheless, Saudi Arabia does not dispense with the cooperation of brotherly and friendly countries. Britain and France have rushed to enhance air defense systems not due to any deficiency in them, but because assisting Saudi Arabia is a duty for all countries of the world, as the kingdom holds central importance for global energy markets. And because the security of navigation in the Red Sea is vital for the stability of the Middle East and the entire world; if any disruption occurs in Saudi oil exports, inflation rates and the cost of doing business in countries around the world will rise.
For these reasons, London and Paris hastened to participate in strengthening Saudi air defenses. For Britain, as an example—not an exhaustive list—Saudi Arabia invested between 2017 and 2024 the equivalent of £16 billion. In 2024, the Strategic Partnership Council decided to double mutual trade to reach £30 billion by 2030.
This confirms that there are strategic interests between the two countries, which require maintaining and developing them and standing with the Saudi side as necessitated by the protection of the kingdom, and enhancing its defenses against Houthi terrorist attacks using ballistic missiles and drones, which target civilian objects, airports, and civilians of various nationalities.
There is no doubt that Saudi Arabia's strategic allies are concerned about the future of Saudi investments in their countries, especially since they rely heavily on Saudi investments to accomplish projects they consider strategically important for their economies.
What these countries have done confirms their strong belief in the necessity of standing with a Gulf security partner. This is a stance that calls for providing military assistance rather than merely expressing diplomatic solidarity.
