يحتفل العالم اليوم (الإثنين) باليوم العالمي للمعلم، الذي يصادف 5 أكتوبر من كل عام، بهدف تسليط الضوء على إنجازات المعلمين وأهمية التعليم، إذ اعتمدت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة «اليونسكو» هذا اليوم عام 1994 مناسبةً للاحتفاء بالمعلمين ودورهم في بناء المجتمعات وصناعة المستقبل.

وتشهد مؤسسات التعليم العام والجامعات والكليات بهذه المناسبة برامج وفعاليات متنوعة، تشمل المعارض والمحاضرات والندوات والأمسيات الثقافية، إلى جانب الحملات التوعوية عبر وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، بما يعزز مكانة المعلم ويبرز دوره في بناء المستقبل واستمرار مسيرة التنمية العلمية والعملية. وتؤكد المناسبة أهمية مهنة التعليم باعتبارها من المهن التي تترك أثراً مستداماً في حياة الأجيال، وتسهم في صناعة المستقبل وتحقيق التنمية، فيما تتجدد في هذا اليوم تطلعات المعلمين والمعلمات إلى إقرار عدد من المميزات التي يرون أنها تعزز الاستقرار المهني والاجتماعي وتدعم مسيرتهم التعليمية.
تأمين صحي طال انتظاره

وأوضح نزار البركاتي وعمر الصاعدي وسلطان بن محمد وحميد الصبحي وعبدالوكيل السلمي لـ«عكاظ»، أن من أبرز تطلعاتهم إقرار برنامج للتأمين الصحي للمعلمين والمعلمات. وأكدوا أن هذا المطلب طال انتظاره رغم كثرة الحديث عنه خلال السنوات الماضية، نظراً لأهميته وأولويته. وأوضحوا أن اعتماد التأمين الطبي سيمثل، في حال إقراره، نقلة نوعية مهمة للعاملين في قطاع التربية والتعليم، وسيسهم في تخفيف الأعباء المادية عنهم، فضلاً عن الحد من معاناة المعلمين ومرضاهم جراء التنقل بين المدن بحثاً عن المستشفيات والمراكز الطبية التخصصية.

سكن ميسر واستقرار اجتماعي
وأضافوا أن من المطالب المهمة التي يتطلعون إلى تحقيقها تخصيص برامج للإسكان الميسر للمعلمين والمعلمات في مختلف مناطق ومحافظات المملكة، بما يوفر لهم مساكن مناسبة وفق استقطاعات شهرية ميسرة، من خلال التعاون بين وزارة التعليم ووزارة البلديات والإسكان والقطاع الخاص، سواء عبر تخصيص مبانٍ سكنية جاهزة أو توفير قطع أراضٍ سكنية. وأشاروا إلى أن توفير السكن للمعلمين والمعلمات سيسهم بصورة كبيرة في تعزيز الاستقرار الاجتماعي لهم في المدن والمحافظات، كما سيحد من طلبات النقل التي تتزايد في نهاية كل عام دراسي.

أندية اجتماعية وترفيهية
وتضمنت المطالب أيضاً إنشاء أندية اجتماعية وترفيهية خاصة بالمعلمين والمعلمات، خصوصاً في المدن الكبرى، على أن تشتمل على صالات للأفراح ومرافق رياضية وترفيهية متنوعة، أسوة بما هو متاح لبعض القطاعات الحكومية منذ سنوات. وطالبوا بتفعيل اليوم العالمي للمعلم بصورة أكبر بين أفراد المجتمع، وتعزيز المشاركة الفاعلة من القطاع الخاص من خلال تقديم عروض وخصومات للمعلمين والمعلمات على مختلف المستلزمات والخدمات، إلى جانب إطلاق مبادرات مجتمعية تليق بهذه المناسبة.

تخليد أسماء رواد المهنة
ودعوا إلى تخليد أسماء المعلمين والمعلمات الذين أفنوا سنوات عمرهم في خدمة قطاع التربية والتعليم، من خلال تسمية بعض الشوارع بأسمائهم؛ تقديراً لعطائهم وإسهاماتهم في بناء أجيال الوطن.

On this occasion, public education institutions, universities, and colleges are witnessing various programs and events, including exhibitions, lectures, seminars, and cultural evenings, in addition to awareness campaigns through social media, which enhance the status of teachers and highlight their role in building the future and continuing the journey of scientific and practical development. The occasion emphasizes the importance of the teaching profession as one that leaves a lasting impact on the lives of generations and contributes to shaping the future and achieving development, while on this day, the aspirations of teachers renew for the approval of several benefits that they believe will enhance professional and social stability and support their educational journey.
Long-Awaited Health Insurance

Nizar Al-Barkati, Omar Al-Saadi, Sultan bin Mohammed, Hamid Al-Sobhi, and Abdul-Wakeel Al-Salmi explained to "Okaz" that one of their main aspirations is the approval of a health insurance program for teachers. They confirmed that this demand has been long-awaited despite the extensive discussions about it over the past years, due to its importance and priority. They clarified that the adoption of medical insurance would represent, if approved, a significant qualitative leap for those working in the education sector, and would help alleviate their financial burdens, in addition to reducing the suffering of teachers and their patients due to traveling between cities in search of hospitals and specialized medical centers.

Affordable Housing and Social Stability
They added that one of the important demands they aspire to achieve is the allocation of affordable housing programs for teachers in various regions and governorates of the Kingdom, providing them with suitable housing through manageable monthly deductions, through cooperation between the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and the private sector, whether by allocating ready residential buildings or providing plots of residential land. They pointed out that providing housing for teachers would significantly contribute to enhancing their social stability in cities and governorates, as it would reduce the requests for transfers that increase at the end of each academic year.

Social and Recreational Clubs
The demands also included the establishment of social and recreational clubs specifically for teachers, especially in major cities, which should include wedding halls and various sports and recreational facilities, similar to what has been available to some government sectors for years. They called for a greater activation of World Teachers' Day among community members and enhancing active participation from the private sector by offering discounts and deals for teachers on various supplies and services, in addition to launching community initiatives that befit this occasion.

Commemorating the Names of Pioneers in the Profession
They called for commemorating the names of teachers who dedicated their lives to serving the education sector by naming some streets after them; in appreciation of their contributions and efforts in building the nation's generations.
