The Civil Status Authority confirmed that the approved personal photo for women when renewing the national identity card must be free of cosmetics and makeup. This clarification came in response to an inquiry from a citizen who asked about the possibility of being photographed for the national identity card with light makeup. The "Customer Care" account in the Civil Status Authority referred to the guide for the correct cases of photos for renewing the national identity card. The attached instructions stated that facial features must be clear, and the photo should be without expressions and without cosmetics, while the approved female model in the guide appeared with a head covering that covers the hair.
The requirements included that the photo be in color with a white background, and that it be recent, not exceeding six months from the date it was taken, with the face appearing directly and facing the camera.
The Civil Status Authority also required that the photo be free of folds, ink spots, or holes, in addition to avoiding light reflections on the eyes that lead to the appearance of "red-eye."
According to the guide, cosmetics and makeup are not acceptable in the national identity photo for women, while adhering to the clarity of features, the white background, the recency of the photo, and facing the camera directly.
