The signing of a joint executive program by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, reaffirms the Kingdom's commitment to standing by the Yemeni people in their difficult circumstances, resulting from the terrorist operations carried out by the Houthi militia in the provinces still under their control.
The Houthi militia has caused a wave of displacement from the western coast, Al-Mokha, and Taiz towards safer areas over the past few weeks, following deliberate targeting of civilians by the militia in their residential areas; this has resulted in the killing and injury of thousands who realize that the militia does not care about their safety, thus directing its forces to target residential gatherings.
The disgraceful actions of the Houthis did not stop there; they have resorted to killing innocents, torturing the elderly and children, looting property, and imprisoning hundreds without regard for their dignity and human rights, in clear violation of international norms and laws, and without any deterrent from religion or conscience.
The large-scale displacement cases in Yemen and their humanitarian repercussions require the international community to engage with Saudi efforts and stand by the displaced by allocating programs that help secure food, medicine, and shelter, in the face of the harsh conditions caused by the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia.
