The Chairman of the Shura Council and President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sheikh, strongly condemned the launch of a drone by the Houthi terrorist militia towards Mecca, emphasizing that the attack infringes upon the sanctity of the holiest sites for Muslims and provokes their feelings worldwide.
This statement came during his chairing of the 43rd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliamentary Union in Cairo, with the participation of representatives from the member Arab councils and parliaments.
Al Sheikh called on countries to assume their responsibilities and to firmly confront the attacks targeting lands, facilities, vital interests, energy sources, supply chains, and maritime navigation routes, warning of the repercussions on energy security, trade, and the global economy.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, he affirmed the priority of the Palestinian cause, the necessity of halting attacks on the Palestinian people, delivering aid, rejecting displacement and settlement, and supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the two-state solution.
