Arab and Gulf countries, along with other nations, organizations, unions, and parliaments, have strongly condemned the targeting of the "East-West" pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions by several drones coming from the Republic of Iraq, as well as the resulting human injuries and material damages.
A responsible source in the Ministry of Energy stated on Friday that the pipeline was subjected to multiple attacks on the morning of Thursday, September 10, 2026, which necessitated its precautionary shutdown, noting that some injuries occurred and that medical care was provided to the injured.
The source clarified that emergency teams and specialized technical teams began their work immediately after the attacks, taking the necessary measures to secure the pipeline and verify its safety, in accordance with approved safety procedures and emergency plans, and in coordination with relevant authorities.
Statements from the foreign ministries of the condemning countries confirmed that targeting civilian and economic facilities is a condemned act and a blatant violation of international law, representing a serious escalation that could undermine the security and stability of the region.
In this context, the countries appreciated the responsible approach taken by the Kingdom in supporting the efforts of the Iraqi government to prevent its territory from being used to attack the Kingdom and neighboring countries, expressing their full solidarity with the Kingdom and support for all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, facilities, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
They considered that these attacks represent a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a threat to its security and stability, and a flagrant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, emphasizing the necessity of not using the territory of any country as a launchpad for attacks on other countries.
