The Civil Status Department clarified the regulations regarding attire when taking personal photos for beneficiaries, confirming that the "igal" is not mandatory, and that wearing the shemagh is not required for those under 15 years old.
The clarification from the "Customer Care" department of Civil Status was in response to an inquiry from a beneficiary regarding the permitted attire, after he noticed that the published conditions did not specify details related to wearing the red shemagh or the white ghutrah, the type of igal, or the possibility of taking photos without them.
The Civil Status Department stated in its response: "Wearing the igal is not required, nor is wearing the shemagh for those under 15 years old," thus clarifying some of the conditions related to appearance in the official photo.
This clarification means that the igal is not a mandatory requirement for the photo, while those under fifteen are exempt from the requirement to wear the shemagh, which addresses some of the frequently asked questions regarding the requirements for photos used in civil status transactions.
On the other hand, the published response did not include details about the color of the shemagh or ghutrah, the type of igal, or other attire cases for those over fifteen; the clarification was limited to the non-mandatory nature of the igal and the non-requirement of the shemagh for the age group under 15 years old.
