أكدت وزارة التعليم ارتفاع مستوى القراءة لدى الكبار ضمن برامج التعليم المستمر في مناطق ومحافظات السعودية، وبينت أن نسبة القراءة وصلت إلى 98%. وأشارت إلى أنه تم التوسع في مدن التعلم من خلال انضمام ثماني مدن سعودية إلى شبكة اليونسكو العالمية لمدن التعلم، وهي الرياض والجبيل والعلا وينبع والأحساء والمدينة المنورة ورياض الخبراء ومدينة الملك عبدالله الاقتصادية.
وأوضحت وزارة التعليم أنه تم التوسع في نظام التعلم في مراكز الأحياء من خلال تشغيل 123 مركز حي متعلم في مختلف مناطق ومحافظات السعودية، وتنفيذ 880 برنامجاً علمياً ومهنياً وتوعوياً، استفاد منها 86,500 متدرب ومتدربة. كما تم تفعيل الشراكات المجتمعية وتنفيذ 28 برنامجاً تدريبياً، استفاد منها 1,500 دارس ودارسة، بهدف رفع كفاءة التشغيل وتوفير فرص التعلم مدى الحياة.
وجاءت هذه الإحصاءات بمناسبة اليوم العالمي لمحو الأمية للعام 2026، الذي صادف الـ8 من شهر سبتمبر الجاري، تحت شعار (محو الأمية من أجل الإنسان والكوكب والازدهار).
The Ministry of Education confirmed the increase in reading levels among adults within continuous education programs in various regions and provinces of Saudi Arabia, indicating that the reading rate has reached 98%. It also noted that there has been an expansion in learning cities with the addition of eight Saudi cities to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, which are Riyadh, Al Jubail, Al Ula, Yanbu, Al Ahsa, Medina, Al Riyadh Al Khubar, and King Abdullah Economic City.
The Ministry of Education clarified that there has been an expansion in the learning system in neighborhood centers by operating 123 learning neighborhood centers in different regions and provinces of Saudi Arabia, and implementing 880 scientific, professional, and awareness programs, benefiting 86,500 trainees. Community partnerships have also been activated, with 28 training programs implemented, benefiting 1,500 male and female learners, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and providing lifelong learning opportunities.
These statistics were released on the occasion of International Literacy Day for the year 2026, which coincided with the 8th of September this month, under the slogan (Literacy for Humanity, Planet, and Prosperity).
