أطلق ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، عدة حزم تطويرية للرياضة السعودية خلال السنوات الماضية، انعكست إيجاباً على مكانة المملكة العربية السعودية في هذا القطاع الذي يمثل أكبر شريحة في المجتمع السعودي، إذ تمثل الرياضة اليوم إحدى الأدوات المؤثرة التي تعتمد عليها الدول في تعزيز حضورها الدولي، وترسيخ قيم التسامح والإخاء، وبناء جسور التواصل مع شعوب العالم، حيث برزت المملكة نموذجاً فاعلاً في توظيف الرياضة منصة حضارية تعكس عمقها التاريخي وتطلعاتها المستقبلية.
وخلال السنوات الأخيرة، أضحت الفعاليات والبطولات الرياضية التي استضافتها المملكة مساحة فاعلة لإبراز حضورها الحضاري؛ إذ تجاوزت الرياضة مفهوم المنافسة لتغدو منصة ثقافية وإنسانية تُبرز تاريخ المملكة وقيمها الأصيلة وجودة تنظيمها، وقدرتها على الجمع بين الحداثة والجذور التاريخية العميقة.
