التقى الأمين العام لرابطة العالم الإسلامي رئيس هيئة علماء المسلمين الشيخ الدكتور محمد بن عبدالكريم العيسى، في العاصمة الرياض، الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش، على هامش المنتدى العالمي الـ11 لتحالف الأمم المتحدة للحضارات.
وجرت خلال اللقاء مناقشة عدد من الموضوعات، في طليعتها أهمية مواصلة تعزيز الصداقة والتعاون بين الأمم والشعوب.
واطَّلَع الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة على جهود رابطة العالم الإسلامي في هذا الشأن، من خلال حواراتها الهادفة والمثمرة حول العالم مع مختلف أوجه التنوّع الإنساني، مثمناً جهودها في العمل على مبادرات وبرامج كل ما يخدم مفهوم السلام الوقائي.
وفي ختام اللقاء، أعرب الدكتور العيسى عن شكره باسم الشعوب الإسلامية المنضوية تحت مظلّة الرابطة، لمواقف أمين عام الأمم المتحدة المُشرِّفة تجاه القضايا العادلة التي تصدّى لها بكل مسؤولية وشجاعة، لا سيما مأساة غزّة، والقضية الفلسطينية بعامة.
The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, met in the capital Riyadh with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on the sidelines of the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
During the meeting, several topics were discussed, foremost among them the importance of continuing to enhance friendship and cooperation between nations and peoples.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations was briefed on the efforts of the Muslim World League in this regard, through its meaningful and fruitful dialogues around the world with various aspects of human diversity, appreciating its efforts in working on initiatives and programs that serve the concept of preventive peace.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Al-Issa expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Islamic peoples under the umbrella of the League for the honorable positions of the UN Secretary-General regarding the just causes he has addressed with responsibility and courage, particularly the tragedy of Gaza and the Palestinian cause in general.
