أعلنت السلطات السورية، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، بالتعاون مع شركاء دوليين، القبض على قيادي عسكري بارز في تنظيم «داعش»، في عملية أمنية نُفذت بريف مدينة منبج بمحافظة حلب.
وأفادت الجهات الأمنية بأن المقبوض عليه، يدعى حمزة عبدالله محمد، الملقب بـ«أبو جهاد المهاجر»، ويُصنف من أبرز القيادات العسكرية في تنظيم «داعش».
وأشارت إلى أنه شغل منصب «العسكري العام لولاية الشام» في التنظيم، كما تولى سابقاً منصب نائب العسكري العام، المعروف بلقب «الحارثي»، وقبل ذلك مسؤولية ما يسمى «ولاية إدلب».
وأضافت أن العملية تأتي في إطار الجهود الأمنية الرامية إلى ملاحقة خلايا وقيادات تنظيم داعش وتفكيك شبكاته، ومنع التنظيم من إعادة ترتيب صفوفه أو استعادة نشاطه بما يهدد أمن المواطنين والاستقرار في سورية.
وكانت وزارة الداخلية السورية أعنلت في التاسع من أغسطس، أن قوى الأمن الداخلي بالتعاون مع جهاز الاستخبارات العامة، قبضت على خلية مؤلفة من تسعة أشخاص تابعة لتنظيم «داعش»، في مدينة خان أرنبة بالقنيطرة. وأضافت أن القبض على الخلية جاء في إطار «الجهود المتواصلة لملاحقة عناصر التنظيم وتجفيف مصادر إمداده».
وأفادت بأن العملية أسفرت عن إلقاء القبض على زعيم الخلية مصعب خليل الشيخ، الملقب بـ«الصيني».
وأكدت أن زعيم الخلية «نشط ضمن صفوف التنظيم الإرهابي في دمشق وريفها ومنطقة البادية وقرى حوران، وعمل ضمن إحدى المجموعات التابعة للمدعو أبو عبد الرحمن العراقي زعيم التنظيم آنذاك، قبل أن يُقتل في درعا عام 2022».
وأفادت الداخلية السورية بأن التحقيقات الأولية، كشفت أن الخلية كانت تنفذ مهام لصالح تنظيم داعش، شملت جمع الأسلحة، ونقل العبوات الناسفة ومستلزماتها، إلى جانب أنشطة أخرى تهدف إلى دعم تحركات التنظيم الإرهابي.
The Syrian authorities announced today (Tuesday), in collaboration with international partners, the arrest of a prominent military leader in the "ISIS" organization, in a security operation carried out in the countryside of the city of Manbij in Aleppo province.
The security agencies reported that the arrested individual is named Hamza Abdullah Muhammad, nicknamed "Abu Jihad Al-Muhajir," and is classified as one of the most prominent military leaders in the "ISIS" organization.
It was noted that he held the position of "General Military of the Levant" in the organization, and previously served as the Deputy General Military, known by the nickname "Al-Harithi," and before that, he was responsible for what is called "Idlib Province."
It added that the operation comes as part of ongoing security efforts aimed at pursuing ISIS cells and leaders, dismantling their networks, and preventing the organization from reorganizing or resuming activities that threaten the safety of citizens and stability in Syria.
On August 9, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that the internal security forces, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Agency, arrested a cell consisting of nine individuals affiliated with the "ISIS" organization in the city of Khan Arnabah in Quneitra. It added that the arrest of the cell was part of "ongoing efforts to pursue the organization's elements and dry up its sources of supply."
It reported that the operation resulted in the arrest of the cell leader, Musab Khalil Al-Sheikh, nicknamed "The Chinese."
It confirmed that the cell leader "was active within the ranks of the terrorist organization in Damascus and its countryside, in the Badia region, and in the villages of Hauran, and worked within one of the groups affiliated with the aforementioned Abu Abdul Rahman Al-Iraqi, the leader of the organization at that time, before he was killed in Daraa in 2022."
The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the cell was carrying out tasks on behalf of ISIS, which included collecting weapons, transporting explosive devices and their requirements, in addition to other activities aimed at supporting the movements of the terrorist organization.
