إنفاذًا لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، بدأ الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، صباح اليوم (الخميس)، عملية فصل التوأم الملتصق الفلبيني (أوليفيا وجيانا)، وذلك في مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية بوزارة الحرس الوطني في الرياض.
وأوضح المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية رئيس الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة، في تصريح صحفي، أن التوأم الملتصق الفلبيني (أوليفيا وجيانا) قدمتا إلى المملكة في 27 يناير 2026م، وتبلغان من العمر سنتين وشهرين، وبعد دخول التوأم إلى مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال، قام الفريق الطبي بإجراء فحوصات دقيقة ومتعددة لهما وعقد عدة اجتماعات توصل من خلالها إلى أنهما تلتصقان بالصدر والبطن وتشتركان بالكبد واحتمال جزء من الأمعاء، كما تعاني إحداهما من عيوب خلقية في القلب تشكل خطرًا عليها.
ولفت إلى أنه أجريت عملية تمديد للجلد عن طريق زرع بالونات طبية تحت الجلد للمساعدة في إغلاق الجراح بعد عملية الفصل.
وبين أنه من المقرر أن تُجرى العملية على (6) مراحل، وتستغرق حوالي (8) ساعات -بإذن الله-، ويشارك فيها 22 من الاستشاريين والأخصائيين والكوادر التمريضية والفنية، مفيدًا بأن هذه العملية تُعد من العمليات الدقيقة، وأن نسبة نجاحها -بمشيئة الله- تزيد على 70% ولفت الدكتور الربيعة النظر إلى أن هذه العملية تعد الرابعة لتوائم ملتصقة من الفلبين، وهي رقم (72) ضمن البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة الذي استطاع منذ عام 1990م أن يعتني بـ(158) توأمًا من (28) دولة في (5) قارات.
ورفع الدكتور الربيعة باسمه ونيابة عن جميع أعضاء الفريق الشكر والعرفان إلى خادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين، على الدعم السخي الذي يحظى به البرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة، حتى أصبحت المملكة مركزًا عالميًا متميزًا في هذا المجال، سائلًا المولى -عز وجل- أن تكلل العملية بالنجاح، وأن يمنّ على التوأم الفلبيني بالصحة والعافية.
In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the medical and surgical team of the Saudi program for conjoined twins began the separation operation for the Filipino conjoined twins (Olivia and Gianna) this morning (Thursday) at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
The General Supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action and Head of the medical and surgical team of the program, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabiah, stated in a press statement that the Filipino conjoined twins (Olivia and Gianna) arrived in the Kingdom on January 27, 2026, and they are two years and two months old. After the twins were admitted to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital, the medical team conducted multiple precise examinations and held several meetings, concluding that they are conjoined at the chest and abdomen, sharing the liver and possibly part of the intestines. Additionally, one of them suffers from congenital heart defects that pose a risk to her.
He pointed out that a skin expansion procedure was performed by implanting medical balloons under the skin to assist in closing the incisions after the separation operation.
He indicated that the operation is scheduled to be carried out in (6) stages, taking approximately (8) hours - with God's permission - and involves 22 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff. He noted that this operation is considered one of the delicate surgeries, and the success rate - with God's will - exceeds 70%. Dr. Al Rabiah highlighted that this is the fourth operation for conjoined twins from the Philippines, and it is number (72) within the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has been able since 1990 to care for (158) twins from (28) countries across (5) continents.
Dr. Al Rabiah expressed his gratitude and appreciation, on his behalf and on behalf of all team members, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince for the generous support received by the Saudi program for conjoined twins, which has made the Kingdom a distinguished global center in this field, asking the Almighty to crown the operation with success and grant the Filipino twins health and wellness.
