The U.S. military announced today (Thursday) the disabling of a third oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman overnight while attempting to break the American blockade.

The U.S. Central Command stated in a statement that it "took action against the oil tanker 'MT Galver,' flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, while it was attempting to transport oil from Iran across the Gulf of Oman," explaining that an American aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles at the ship's engine room after the crew repeatedly failed to comply with U.S. forces' directives.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs had earlier accused the United States of carrying out attacks on three vessels linked to India in the Gulf of Oman.

The ministry clarified that two of the targeted vessels were subject to sanctions by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control, while the third vessel was classified as non-compliant.

The Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways reported that there are more than 18,000 Indian sailors in the Gulf region, and that 13 Indian-flagged vessels are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
