Economists have confirmed that increasing the monthly support for the eligible categories by 500 riyals, along with adjusting the electricity and water tariffs and gradually raising the wage calculation standard in the "Nitaqat" program, constitutes a package of measures that supports living stability, protects the purchasing power of citizens, and enhances the attractiveness of private sector jobs. They pointed out that combining direct support with the development of localization programs contributes to alleviating the impact of service costs, stimulating consumer spending, and revitalizing local markets.
The Chairman of the Supreme Economic Council at the International Federation of Journalism and Media, Jamal Banoon, stated that the generous directive reflects a clear methodology in managing price transformations, taking into account the preservation of the citizen's purchasing power. He explained that the increase in support by 500 riyals per month for the eligible categories achieves a balance with the adjustment of the electricity and water tariffs, limiting their potential impact on household budgets.
He noted that raising the wage calculation limit in localization programs to 5,000 and then to 6,000 riyals represents a step that enhances the structuring of the labor market and increases the attractiveness of jobs in the private sector, positively reflecting on productivity and economic sustainability. He affirmed that this embodies the gradual approach with which financial reforms are managed in the Kingdom, protecting the citizen and stimulating growth.
For his part, economic analyst Jihad Al-Obaid viewed the coincidence of increasing allowances with adjusting the tariff as limiting the potential effects on purchasing power and helping to maintain the pace of business and economic activity. He added that raising the wage standard in "Nitaqat" provides Saudi citizens with a greater incentive to work in the private sector and helps make jobs there a reliable source of income.
Economic writer Ali Al-Hazmi described the measures as a "comprehensive economic package," indicating that reviewing the electricity and water tariffs is linked to rationalizing consumption and ensuring the sustainability of resources and services, as well as investing in infrastructure. He noted that financial increases and raising the calculation standard contribute to protecting purchasing power and can support consumer spending resulting from economic growth.
The full wage calculation for Saudi workers in "Nitaqat" will be raised to 5,000 riyals six months after the implementation of the procedure, and then to 6,000 riyals twelve months after the first increase is applied. Previously, a Saudi worker was fully counted in the localization percentage if their wage reached 4,000 riyals, counted as half if their wage ranged between 3,000 and less than 4,000 riyals, and not counted if their wage was less than 3,000 riyals.
The announced monthly increases include 500 riyals for civilian and military employees on civil service scales and operational program items, retirees, and the family members of the subscriber or deceased retiree subject to the social insurance system, in addition to the same monthly support for families benefiting from social security, according to the organized mechanisms and regulations.
