وزير الصناعة: دراسة إبرام اتفاقية للتبادل التجاري مع جنوب أفريقيا

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef held a bilateral meeting with his South African counterpart, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition Ebrahim Patel, on the sidelines of the 10th session of the Saudi-South African Joint Committee hosted in Riyadh, with wide participation from representatives of government entities from both countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources welcomed the South African delegation, emphasizing the depth of the relations that bind the Kingdom to South Africa and the necessity of working to exploit available opportunities to enhance economic partnership between the two countries.

Investment Opportunities

The Minister Al-Khorayef explained that the volume of trade exchange between the two sides is witnessing increasing growth, which necessitates studying the conclusion of a trade agreement that contributes to expanding the scope of cooperation. He stressed the importance of compiling the outputs of the committee's work into a specific list of tasks that are agreed upon and followed up regularly. He also pointed out the investment opportunities available in the Kingdom, particularly in the automotive sector and its related value chains, as well as in the mining and iron sectors.

For his part, the South African minister expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom for the warm welcome, reviewing the most promising opportunities in his country, especially in the automotive sector, along with the iron sector, which requires investment and technical partnerships, and the mining sector, including exploration and critical minerals. He confirmed that his country has special economic zones that could serve as attractive platforms for joint investments.
