بناء على توجيه ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، زار وفد سعودي يضم 150 شخصاً من القطاعين العام والخاص، برئاسة وزير الاستثمار المهندس خالد الفالح، اليوم (الأربعاء)، سورية، وذلك في إطار تعزيز التعاون الاقتصادي بين السعودية وسورية.
وأكد الوزير الفالح أن ولي العهد حريص على دعم سورية وانتقالها للبناء والازدهار، وأن البيئة الاستثمارية في سورية جاذبة جداً، لامتلاكها ثروات بشرية وموارد طبيعية وموقعاً إستراتيجياً.
وأشار أن الوفد السعودي الذي بدأ زيارة إلى دمشق، يضم 40 قيادياً حكومياً، وأن الحكومة السورية تعتمد على القطاع الخاص في إعادة البناء.
ويتوقع أن تشهد الزيارة توقيع صفقات بقيمة 15 مليار ريال (4 مليارات دولار) من المتوقع أن تكون معظمها مذكرات تفاهم ومشاريع مشتركة. وتعكس الزيارة حرص السعودية على دعم الاقتصاد السوري وتعزيز الروابط الاقتصادية، انطلاقاً من العلاقات التاريخية والأخوية التي تجمع الحكومتين والشعبين الشقيقين.
وكانت وزارة الاستثمار السعودية قد أعلنت في وقت سابق أنها ستعقد منتدى استثمارياً سعودياً سورياً في دمشق بمشاركة القطاعين العام والخاص.
وأعلنت الوزارة أنها ستعمل مع الجهات المعنية السورية لتذليل العقبات التي تعترض الاستثمار في سورية، التي دمرتها سنوات الحرب الأهلية، وشهدت الزيارة افتتاح مصنع للأسمنت الأبيض في ريف دمشق.
وكان في استقبال الوفد وزير الاقتصاد والصناعة الدكتور محمد نضال الشعار، ووزير الطاقة المهندس محمد البشير، ووزير الاتصالات والتقنية عبدالسلام هيكل، كما كان في استقبال الوفد سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى سورية فيصل المجفل، وأعضاء السفارة، وعدد من المسؤولين من القطاعين الحكومي والخاص.
وتعكس الزيارة حرص المملكة على دعم الاقتصاد السوري وتعزيز الروابط الاقتصادية، وذلك انطلاقاً من العلاقات التاريخية والأخوية التي تجمع الحكومتين والشعبين الشقيقين.
وشهد الفالح إطلاق أول مصنع للأسمنت الأبيض في سورية باستثمار بلغ 20 مليون دولار، ويوفر 130 فرصة عمل مباشرة، وأكثر من 1000 فرصة عمل غير مباشرة، في القطاعات اللوجستية المساندة والمستفيدة.

Based on the directive of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, a Saudi delegation consisting of 150 individuals from the public and private sectors, headed by Minister of Investment Engineer Khalid Al-Falih, visited Syria today (Wednesday) as part of efforts to enhance economic cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Syria.
Minister Al-Falih confirmed that the Crown Prince is keen on supporting Syria and its transition to construction and prosperity, and that the investment environment in Syria is very attractive due to its human resources, natural resources, and strategic location.
He pointed out that the Saudi delegation, which began its visit to Damascus, includes 40 government leaders, and that the Syrian government relies on the private sector for reconstruction.
The visit is expected to witness the signing of deals worth 15 billion riyals (4 billion dollars), most of which are anticipated to be memorandums of understanding and joint projects. The visit reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the Syrian economy and strengthening economic ties, stemming from the historical and fraternal relations that bind the two governments and their brotherly peoples.
The Saudi Ministry of Investment had previously announced that it would hold a Saudi-Syrian investment forum in Damascus with the participation of both the public and private sectors.
The ministry announced that it would work with the relevant Syrian authorities to overcome the obstacles facing investment in Syria, which has been devastated by years of civil war, and the visit witnessed the opening of a white cement factory in the countryside of Damascus.
The delegation was received by Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar, Minister of Energy Engineer Mohammad Al-Bashir, and Minister of Communications and Technology Abdul Salam Haikal. The delegation was also welcomed by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Syria, Faisal Al-Mojbel, embassy members, and several officials from both the public and private sectors.
The visit reflects the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the Syrian economy and enhancing economic ties, based on the historical and fraternal relations that unite the two governments and their brotherly peoples.
During the visit, Al-Falih witnessed the launch of the first white cement factory in Syria with an investment of 20 million dollars, which provides 130 direct job opportunities and more than 1,000 indirect job opportunities in the supporting and benefiting logistics sectors.
