The "Okaz" newspaper learned that the General Authority for Competition has recently launched a service (reporting collusion in government competitions), which allows procurement officials in government entities, individuals, and establishments to report suspicions of collusion to the authority.

The authority had previously enabled the submission of complaints through its website via the service (filing a complaint against a violating establishment) for all segments of society, to contribute to market oversight and enhance the authority's role in controlling violations and misconduct.


The authority continues to complete the interlinking process with several government entities on the Business Intelligence platform, to access a central database that helps the authority uncover collusion in government competitions and monitor price changes in the markets, as well as identify potential violations.

According to a recent report from the authority, the Information and Market Monitoring Center continues to update essential databases to monitor anti-competitive practices, providing relevant reports to the concerned departments, and activating its role by starting to implement the tasks and requirements assigned to it, which include the continuous feeding of databases and the development of economic indicators that assist in the market monitoring process. The center also works on improving the detection of collusion in public tenders and continues its role in the optimal exploitation of technological advancements to adopt the best methodologies for uncovering collusion in government competitions.

The authority sees its potential contribution and role in achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by enhancing spending efficiency through granting it access to government competition data and analyzing that data using artificial intelligence tools, which may contribute to stopping several collusions between establishments that have negative impacts on spending efficiency by executing projects at higher costs than expected.
