أعلنت هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية (UKMTO) اندلاع حريق على متن سفينة أثناء عبورها مضيق هرمز، إثر حادث وقع بالقرب من السواحل العُمانية، فيما لا يزال مصير طاقمها مجهولاً.
وأوضحت الهيئة أنها تلقت بلاغاً، الخميس، من ربان سفينة أخرى أفاد بمشاهدته سفينة تشتعل فيها النيران على بُعد نحو 25 ميلاً بحرياً شمال شرقي مدينة خصب العُمانية.
وأشارت إلى أنه لم تتوفر معلومات بشأن وضع أفراد الطاقم أو حجم الأضرار التي لحقت بالسفينة، كما لم يصدر حتى الآن تقييم للتأثيرات البيئية المحتملة للحريق.
وأكدت الهيئة أن أسباب اندلاع الحريق لا تزال غير معروفة، داعيةً السفن العابرة للمنطقة إلى توخي الحذر والإبلاغ عن أي أنشطة مشبوهة، فيما تواصل الجهات المختصة التحقيق في ملابسات الحادث.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that a fire broke out on a ship while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, following an incident that occurred near the Omani coast, while the fate of its crew remains unknown.
The agency clarified that it received a report on Thursday from the captain of another ship who reported seeing a vessel engulfed in flames about 25 nautical miles northeast of the Omani city of Khasab.
It noted that no information was available regarding the status of the crew members or the extent of the damage to the ship, and no assessment of the potential environmental impacts of the fire has been issued so far.
The agency confirmed that the causes of the fire remain unknown, urging vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities, while the relevant authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
