The yields on U.S. Treasury bonds varied during today's (Monday) trading, coinciding with a decline in oil prices, amid investors' anticipation of the release of important economic data this week, alongside the U.S. midterm elections.
The drop in oil prices contributed to easing concerns related to inflation, following statements from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who confirmed that President Donald Trump prefers to end the war with Iran through diplomatic means, which bolstered expectations of reduced pressure on energy prices.
The yield on the two-year U.S. Treasury bond rose by 1.5 basis points to 4.596%, while the yield on the ten-year bonds fell by one basis point to 4.919%, and the yield on the thirty-year bonds decreased by 2.3 basis points to 5.286%.
Investors are awaiting statements from Federal Reserve officials this week, along with the U.S. jobs report scheduled for release next Friday, amid expectations that the economy added 55,000 jobs in October, compared to about 29,000 jobs in September, in data that could influence U.S. monetary policy directions in the upcoming period.
