The Chinese Ministry of Commerce rejected today (Saturday) the inclusion of Chinese companies on the list of entities that the United States claims are using forced labor, asserting that this move is not based on any factual basis and that U.S. actions destabilize global supply chains.
The ministry explained in a statement that the United States has used its domestic laws to impose unilateral sanctions on Chinese companies, considering this a clear form of "economic intimidation" that harms the legitimate rights and interests of these companies.
It added that China opposes forced labor, emphasizing that the Xinjiang region, where the United States alleges human rights violations occur, is stable and prosperous, and there are no practices of "forced labor" there.
Beijing urged the United States to stop "attacking and defaming" Xinjiang regarding this issue and to end what it described as unfair pressures on Chinese companies, warning that it would take necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of its companies.
