كشفت دراسة حديثة أن التغير المناخي الذي يشهده العالم يكبد البشرية خسائر هائلة وصادمة وغير متوقعة، وهو ما يُشكل حافزاً إضافياً وجديداً على العمل من أجل التغلب على هذا الوضع المناخي الذي يشهده العالم.
وبحسب تقرير صادر عن منظمة «كريستيان إيد»، فقد كلّفت الكوارث المناخية العشر الأكثر تكلفة العالم وحدها أكثر من 120 مليار دولار في عام 2025.
وقال تقرير نشرته جريدة «ديلي ميل» البريطانية، واطلعت عليه «العربية Business»: «إن احتمالية وقوع هذه الكوارث الطبيعية زادت في ظل التغير المناخي الحاد، وزادت فداحة آثارها، نتيجة لتغير المناخ الذي يتسبب فيه الإنسان».
ويحذّر العلماء من أن هذه الحسابات لا تعكس سوى الخسائر المؤمن عليها، وأن التكلفة الحقيقية للكوارث الناجمة عن تغير المناخ يُرجّح أن تكون أعلى من ذلك بكثير.
العبء الأكبر
وبحسب تقرير «كريستيان إيد» فقد تحمّلت الولايات المتحدة العبء الأكبر من الأضرار خلال العام الماضي، إذ اجتاحت حرائق باليسيدز وإيتون مدينة لوس أنجلوس في يناير الماضي، وتسببت في أضرار تجاوزت 60 مليار دولار وأودت بحياة 40 شخصاً.
وتبع ذلك الأعاصير التي ضربت جنوب شرق آسيا، متسببةً في أضرار بلغت 25 مليار دولار ومقتل أكثر من 1,750 شخصاً في تايلند وإندونيسيا وسريلانكا وفيتنام وماليزيا.
صلة واضحة
وسلط الباحثون الضوء على 10 كوارث مناخية أقل تكلفة، لكنها لا تقلّ فظاعة، بما في ذلك حرائق الغابات المدمرة التي ضربت المملكة المتحدة هذا الصيف.
وقد جمع العلماء كماً هائلاً من الأدلة التي تُظهر وجود صلة واضحة لا جدال فيها بين ارتفاع درجة حرارة المناخ وزيادة حدة الكوارث المناخية.

According to a report issued by "Christian Aid," the ten most costly climate disasters alone cost the world more than $120 billion in 2025.
A report published by the British newspaper "Daily Mail," which was reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business," stated: "The likelihood of these natural disasters has increased due to severe climate change, and the severity of their impacts has intensified as a result of human-induced climate change."
Scientists warn that these calculations only reflect insured losses, and the true cost of climate-related disasters is likely to be much higher.
The Largest Burden
According to the "Christian Aid" report, the United States bore the largest burden of damages last year, as wildfires in Palisades and Eaton swept through Los Angeles in January, causing damages exceeding $60 billion and claiming 40 lives.
This was followed by hurricanes that struck Southeast Asia, causing damages amounting to $25 billion and resulting in the deaths of more than 1,750 people in Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Researchers highlighted 10 climate disasters that were less costly but no less horrific, including the devastating wildfires that struck the United Kingdom this summer.
