أكد محافظ البنك المركزي الهندي سانجاي مالهوترا أمس (الأربعاء)، أن مساهمة بلاده في النمو الاقتصادي العالمي تفوق نظيرتها الولايات المتحدة، في رد مباشر على تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب التي وصف فيها الاقتصاد الهندي بأنه «ميت».
وأضاف مالهوترا عقب اجتماع للسياسة النقدية جرى خلاله تثبيت أسعار الفائدة عند 5.50%: «نتمتع بمعدل نمو قوي للغاية، ونساهم بنحو 18% في النمو العالمي، وهو ما يفوق مساهمة الولايات المتحدة التي تبلغ نحو 11% فقط»، وفقاً لـ«بلومبيرغ».
وأشار إلى توقعات صندوق النقد الدولي الأخيرة، التي قدّرت نمو الاقتصاد الهندي بنسبة 6.4% خلال عام 2025، مقابل 1.9% فقط للولايات المتحدة، مؤكداً أن بلاده تسير في مسار نمو قوي ومن المتوقع أن تتحسن الأوضاع الاقتصادية أكثر خلال الفترة القادمة.
يأتي هذا بعدما وصف ترمب الهند وروسيا، الأسبوع الماضي، بأنهما اقتصادان ميتان، منتقداً سياسة الهند التجارية وعلاقاتها المستمرة مع موسكو، خصوصاً فيما يتعلق بشراء الأسلحة والطاقة من روسيا، رغم التوترات الجيوسياسية المتصاعدة.

The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Sanjay Malhotra, confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) that his country's contribution to global economic growth exceeds that of the United States, in a direct response to comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who described the Indian economy as "dead."
Malhotra added following a monetary policy meeting where interest rates were held steady at 5.50%: "We are enjoying a very strong growth rate, contributing about 18% to global growth, which surpasses the contribution of the United States at around 11% only," according to Bloomberg.
He pointed to the latest International Monetary Fund forecasts, which estimated India's economic growth at 6.4% for the year 2025, compared to just 1.9% for the United States, emphasizing that his country is on a strong growth path and that economic conditions are expected to improve further in the coming period.
This comes after Trump described India and Russia last week as "dead economies," criticizing India's trade policy and its ongoing relations with Moscow, particularly regarding the purchase of weapons and energy from Russia, despite rising geopolitical tensions.
