دخلت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في الدقيقة الأولى من فجر، اليوم (الأربعاء)، حالة شلل فيدرالي، بعد أن فشل الكونغرس في إقرار تمديد جزئي للميزانية، في إجراء سيترتّب عليه توقّف العمل في العديد من الوزارات والوكالات الفيدرالية وسيضع موظفيها في إجازة قسرية. وأمر مكتب الموازنة في البيت الأبيض الوكالات الاتحادية ببدء تنفيذ خطط الإغلاق الحكومي، عقب فشل تمرير مشروع قانون التمويل في الكونغرس.
وأعلنت الصفحة الرسمية للبيت الأبيض على منصة «إكس» رسميا البدء في إغلاق فيدرالي. وهذا الإغلاق الحكومي، الأول منذ نحو سبع سنوات حين شهدت البلاد أطول فترة إغلاق في تاريخها (استمر حينها 35 يوما)، دخل حيّز التنفيذ بعد أن فشل الجمهوريون في تمديد تمويل الحكومة لما بعد يوم الثلاثاء القادم، الذي يمثّل نهاية السنة المالية في الولايات المتّحدة.
