أطلقت أستراليا مشروعا دفاعيا جديدا لإنشاء وتطوير مجمع للصناعات الدفاعية في ولاية غرب أستراليا، بتكلفة 25 مليار دولار أسترالي، ضمن خطة تمتد لعشر سنوات.
وأوضح رئيس الوزراء الأسترالي أنتوني ألبانيزي، أن المجمّع الدفاعي سيقوم ببناء سفن إنزال وفرقاطات عسكرية متعددة المهام؛ بهدف تعزيز القدرات الدفاعية للبلاد.
من جانبه، أوضح وزير صناعة الدفاع الأسترالي بات كونروي، أن المشروع يُعدُّ استثمارًا طويل الأمد في الصناعات الدفاعية، وجزءًا من أكبر عملية تنويع اقتصادي تشهدها ولاية غرب أستراليا منذ عقود.
وقال وزير الدفاع ريتشارد مارليس إن هذا الاستثمار الكبير جدا سينفق على مدى 10 سنوات في مرفق لبناء السفن وصيانتها في بيرث في غرب أستراليا.
تخصيص أموال
وبدأت الحكومة بتخصيص أموال لمركز دفاع هندرسون في بيرث منذ توقيع اتفاقية اوكوس مع بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة والتي تتضمن صفقة لشراء أسطول من الغواصات العاملة بالطاقة النووية.
وتنوي أستراليا التي تفتقر إلى البنية التحتية اللازمة لخدمة هذا النوع من الغواصات إلى شراء ثلاث غواصات نووية أمريكية من طراز فيرجينيا خلال 15 عاما، مع خطة لإنشاء بنية تحتية لتصنيع غواصاتها الخاصة في المستقبل.
Australia has launched a new defense project to establish and develop a defense industry complex in Western Australia, at a cost of 25 billion Australian dollars, as part of a ten-year plan.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese explained that the defense complex will build landing ships and multi-role frigates, aiming to enhance the country's defense capabilities.
For his part, Australian Defense Industry Minister Pat Conroy stated that the project is a long-term investment in the defense industry and part of the largest economic diversification effort seen in Western Australia in decades.
Defense Minister Richard Marles said that this significant investment will be spent over 10 years on a facility for building and maintaining ships in Perth, Western Australia.
Allocation of Funds
The government has begun allocating funds for the Henderson Defense Facility in Perth since the signing of the AUKUS agreement with the UK and the United States, which includes a deal to purchase a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.
Australia, which lacks the necessary infrastructure to support this type of submarine, intends to purchase three American Virginia-class nuclear submarines over the next 15 years, with a plan to establish infrastructure for manufacturing its own submarines in the future.
