تعهدت إيطاليا والولايات المتحدة، اليوم الإثنين، بتعزيز العلاقات في مجال الطاقة، بما يشمل زيادة صادرات الغاز الطبيعي المسال إلى إيطاليا، في ظل استمرار أوروبا في البحث عن بدائل لإمدادات الطاقة الروسية في أعقاب غزو موسكو لأوكرانيا.
وتعهد وزير الطاقة الإيطالي جيلبرتو بيتشيتو فراتين ووزير الداخلية الأمريكي دوج بورجوم، بعد محادثات في روما، بتعزيز تدفق مستقر وآمن للغاز الطبيعي المسال الأمريكي إلى أوروبا، دون الالتزام بأرقام أو أطر زمنية محددة.
وقال الوزيران إنهما يهدفان إلى تشجيع الاستثمارات في البنية التحتية لاستيراد الغاز الطبيعي المسال وإعادة تحويله إلى غاز في إيطاليا، إضافة إلى البنية التحتية للتصدير في الولايات المتحدة، لضمان سلاسل توريد فعالة ومرنة.
تخلص تدريجي
واتخذ الاتحاد الأوروبي خطواتٍ للتخلص التدريجي من واردات الغاز والغاز الطبيعي المسال الروسيين، ومن المقرر أن تعزز الولايات المتحدة إمداداتها مع سعي الاتحاد لإنهاء العلاقة التي استمرت عقوداً مع موسكو في مجال الطاقة والتي انهارت بعد غزو أوكرانيا عام 2022.
وقال بيتشيتو فراتين في بيان: «يسهم الغاز الطبيعي المسال الأمريكي في ضمان إمدادات الطاقة، وذلك بفضل موثوقية المسار من الولايات المتحدة إلى إيطاليا وأوروبا، مقارنة بالمخاطر الجيوسياسية التي تنطوي عليها مسارات أخرى».

Italy and the United States pledged on Monday to strengthen their energy relationship, including increasing liquefied natural gas exports to Italy, as Europe continues to seek alternatives to Russian energy supplies following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
Italian Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum committed, after talks in Rome, to enhancing a stable and secure flow of American liquefied natural gas to Europe, without committing to specific numbers or timelines.
The two ministers stated that they aim to encourage investments in infrastructure for importing liquefied natural gas and regasifying it in Italy, in addition to export infrastructure in the United States, to ensure effective and flexible supply chains.
Gradual Phase-Out
The European Union has taken steps to phase out imports of Russian gas and liquefied natural gas, and the United States is set to boost its supplies as the EU seeks to end its decades-long energy relationship with Moscow, which collapsed after the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Pichetto Fratin stated in a statement: "American liquefied natural gas contributes to ensuring energy supplies, thanks to the reliability of the route from the United States to Italy and Europe, compared to the geopolitical risks associated with other routes."
