The South Korean Finance Minister, Ko Yoon-cheol, announced that the government is seeking to enhance financial spending as a tool to drive the economic cycle in order to stimulate growth while ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

Ko stated, "We will support economic growth by generating high-productivity investment effects through bold financial inputs."

He emphasized the efforts being made to implement performance-oriented financial management through bold structural reforms, according to the ministry.

The Finance Minister held annual consultations with Moody's credit rating agency, reaffirming the need for bold financial contributions to support economic growth.

For its part, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Sunday: "The meeting held on Friday in Seoul included Minister Ko and the credit assessment team from Moody's, led by Anushka Shah, the credit director at Moody's."

Based on the consultations, Moody's is expected to announce an update to its sovereign credit rating within the next two or three months.

Moody's has maintained its credit rating for South Korea at Aa2, which is the third highest level on its scale, since 2015 with a stable outlook.
