أكد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أن المهلة المحددة للتوصل إلى اتفاقيات تجارية مع عدد من الشركاء التجاريين، التي تنتهي في الأول من أغسطس، لن يتم تمديدها.
وقال في منشور على منصة «تروث سوشيال»: «موعد الأول من أغسطس هو موعد نهائي، وهو صامد ولن يُمدد. يوم عظيم لأمريكا».
في الوقت نفسه، أشار ترمب إلى أنه سيحصل على إحاطة تفصيلية حول سير المفاوضات، لافتاً إلى أنه تلقى اتصالاً من سكوت بيسنت أفاده بأن الاجتماع مع الوفد الصيني كان جيداً جداً.
من جهته، أوضح وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكون بيسنت أن الرئيس ترمب يمتلك الكلمة الفصل في جميع الاتفاقيات التجارية، بما في ذلك الهدنة الجمركية المرتقبة مع الصين.
من جانبه، صرّح الممثل التجاري الأمريكي أنه سيعود إلى واشنطن لعرض نتائج المحادثات على الرئيس ترمب، تمهيداً لاتخاذ قرار بشأن تمديد تعليق الرسوم الجمركية لمدة 90 يوماً.
ونوه المفاوضون الأمريكيون إلى أن أي تمديد محتمل لتعليق الرسوم الجمركية بين الولايات المتحدة والصين لن يتم إلا بموافقة شخصية من الرئيس دونالد ترمب.
واتفق مسؤولون أمريكيون وصينيون على السعي لتمديد هدنة الرسوم الجمركية البالغة 90 يوماً، وذلك بعد محادثات في ستوكهولم على مدى يومين، وصفها الجانبان بالبناءة.
وتأتي تلك التصريحات في ظل مفاوضات مكثفة تجريها واشنطن مع عدد من الدول، وسط مخاوف من تصعيد محتمل في الإجراءات التجارية حال عدم التوصل إلى تفاهمات قبل انتهاء المهلة.
وترى الإدارة الأمريكية أنها مستعدة لكافة السيناريوهات، في إشارة إلى إمكانية فرض رسوم جمركية إضافية إذا لم تُوقّع الاتفاقيات في الموعد المحدد.

President Donald Trump confirmed that the deadline for reaching trade agreements with several trading partners, which ends on August 1, will not be extended.
He stated in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "The August 1 deadline is final, and it stands firm and will not be extended. A great day for America."
At the same time, Trump indicated that he would receive a detailed briefing on the progress of the negotiations, noting that he received a call from Scott Biesen who informed him that the meeting with the Chinese delegation went very well.
For his part, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin clarified that President Trump has the final say on all trade agreements, including the anticipated tariff truce with China.
Additionally, the U.S. Trade Representative stated that he will return to Washington to present the results of the talks to President Trump, in preparation for a decision on whether to extend the suspension of tariffs for 90 days.
American negotiators noted that any potential extension of the tariff suspension between the United States and China would only occur with the personal approval of President Donald Trump.
U.S. and Chinese officials agreed to seek an extension of the 90-day tariff truce, following two days of talks in Stockholm, which both sides described as constructive.
These statements come amid intense negotiations being conducted by Washington with several countries, amid fears of a potential escalation in trade actions if no agreements are reached before the deadline expires.
The U.S. administration believes it is prepared for all scenarios, indicating the possibility of imposing additional tariffs if agreements are not signed by the specified date.
